This is CCR at their most soulful best. edit: That's John Fogerty singing, playing the keyboards, and laying down the saxophone as well!!!
  • @mariebishop7357
This was my mom's favorite song, and when she passed away in 2021, we had it played at her funeral. She loved CCR.

They move effortlessly through Rock , Country , Blues , Bluegrass , and infuse all of it with so much soul . If I had to pick a band that was representative of America and epitomised all that is great about our modern musical heritage it would be CCR.

This song was released in 1970. As a Vietnam Vet, I can say, we adopted it as our Anthem. It was the mindset of the troops, that, the ''light'' was the hope that we would return home, to our family.

John was 24/25 when he wrote, produced, sang, played guitar, keyboards and, maybe most important of all, played the sax on this song. Truly a masterpiece. Glad you finally reacted to it since I have suggested it on every CCR reaction so far.

Been listening and loving CCR for over 50 years, and there isn't a Genre or ''Sound'' you can't get from them! They have it ALL!
  • I hear the first bar and I start crying because I know what’s coming. It’s not just being away from home it’s sitting in a jungle in the dark and the rain waiting to die or kill and knowing you can NEVER go home because you are forever changed by war.

John Fogerty was actually from California. But like many other American songwriters & musicians, he was inspired by blues and Southern gospel music. I was 30yrs old before I discovered he wasn't some kid from Louisiana or something. 😂
  • @chrispate2696
I had this song played at my dads funeral last year. I love pop, and I miss you so much. 😢
  • @markc5771
This is from the album Cosmos Factory. Every song on that album is fantastic
  • 'Long As I Can See The Light' was a favorite with soldiers in Vietnam. Knowing that their loved ones were waiting gave them strength to carry on.
  • Grew up with this. Just a PERFECT SONG. So many "perfect" songs from these guys...Thanks for this...
  • this is a song of my youth ......... Late at night, driving home, put this 8-track in the stereo I bought last week and installled under the dash......... waiting for the rain ......

I consider myself extremely lucky to have grown up in the 50's, 60's and 70's. This music is incomparable to any other era!
  • @KidBklyn
John Fogerty's voice just epitomizes soul and blues. Immediately he makes you feel what he feels when he sings.

CCR always delivers, this is one is one of my favourites partly because it’s such a change in tempo to their rockers they preform. There is no bad time to play Creedence. 🍺😎☮️🇨🇦
