Becoming Successful in Hip Hop (Meeting with A Boogie) | GaryVee Business Meeting

Published 2017-09-24
I always love to talk to artists that are active in the hip-hop scene because I genuinely feel like hip-hop is what starts so many of the trends and culture that we have today. I really enjoyed getting to meet A Boogie wit da Hoodie and talk about the direction of the hip-hop scene.

First Nipsey, now A boogie. Gary sure knows how to recognize urban talent. I wonder who’s next to be on the show. It might be me.
  • I love how Gary can speak with people from all walks of life and connect on a deep level. This is the true definition of a business person that understands his audience.

Now look at Twitch A boogie should’ve listened
  • @ScottSaysStuff
Wiz Khalifa started one of the best rapper vlogs and changed the game. DayToday was one of the best YouTube series online. "MY FUCKING CABEZA... IS HURTING" 😂
  • What makes Gary so dope is his transparency. He makes so much content giving away all his secrets that there is really no need to hire him and all it does is make more people want to hire him. LOL The music industry is about taking a risk to get on. You've got to put up your own money and use your own networks to create the initial interest but its like as soon as an artist starts getting a few checks its like the hustle turns down. Instead of continuing to create their own opportunities they start looking for people to help them get more checks. Everything A Boogie was asking Gary to "help" him with are things he can go get himself. You want to be in a movie? Start doing the research and making contact. It is plenty of smaller indie projects that would LOVE the association of A Boogie's name with their movie. Grind upwards just like you did with the music. You do well in a few indie flicks like you did well with a few mixtapes than the opportunities start to open up more. Trust the process.

Man Gary dropped so many jewels on a boogie. I hope a boogie & the team get more serious on content output. I love the music, but they could have something really special if they document boogie's personal emotions/feelings leading up to the album release. We rarely get that insight as fans. Also the mini docu-series that they did on the tba tour was dope, would be nice if they did it again.

16:10 - He's massively missing the point and does not understand what Twitch is. He thinks Gary's talking about getting his music on an actual game (in this case NBA 2K because that's what Boogie prefers - which would of course be awesome), rather than his music appearing constantly on top Twitch players streams regardless of what game they're playing which is what Gary's referring to.

GV thank u for giving everyone a taste of da process of being a business man, n by linkin w rappers u attract da younger audience n teach them how things work, this shows ur humbleness and transparency. Not many ppl do this since a lot of money is in da line, i know u can only share so much, but the lil u share is a huge inspiration for everyone. #salute

At the end when Gary was saying the thing about the list I wish he would of challenged the manager guy. Tell him to narrow it down to 3 ideas, research them, and have them ready to propose in a couple weeks when the meet again. If he kills it something like that would be a HUGE confidence boost if he fucks it up its a great learning experience
  • Gary vee the type of dude to have a group of 5 diverse people around him to smile and nod at all times lol
  • @leoflomusic1281
I feel a boogie and his team weren’t really well prepared for a meeting with Gary. I see so many different ways they could have capitalized.
  • @AlfredoSequeida
When I listen to the things that come out of Gary's mouth I realize why he is so successful. Something's seem "simple" for a lack of a better word, but they really sound like something that would work. Like when he was talking about making a little concert where A Boogie plays for fans.
  • @datdat6620
Please talk about your take on Frank Ocean and how he's incredibly successful with absolutely NO online presence. I'm interested.
