A guy finally bought his first Jeep! The "wrong year wrangler"! We needed something to tow behind our old RV, so the obligatory Jeep was acquired. I bought this old wrangler out of North Carolina and had it towed back to my shop where my Son and I will attempt to repair it, and hopefully it start, run, and drive once again!

  • Hey Derek, I’ve commented before, but I wanted to make sure you saw it. It’s my senior year, and I wanted to honor you as a very influential person in my highschool career pushing me towards the trades, so I used “I’ll be dipped” as my senior quote (I gave you credit for it). Thank you for everything you do, and if you’d like me to change it please let me know

lot of people are going to see a video of a guy fixing up a car but I see a guy being a really good dad.

"Where's the fire extinguisher?" "I think we used 'em all." GOLD. 😄

Kid doesn’t know how lucky he is. You’re a good dad
  • Hey derek. So a few things 1- the 4.2/4.0 series of engines do run at 210. 2- the rust in the windshield frame is normal. Quadratec has replacement frames for fairly cheap 3- the weber carb is an aftermarket replacement. Factory came with Carter YF computer feedback carbs, which is why there was an O2 sensor. 4- find a donor YJ or TJ with the 4.0 and steal the AX15 . The BA10/5 was an extremely weak trans, and getting parts fornthem now is almost impossible. Keep up the good vidsos!

“Where’s the fire extinguisher? Uh… I think we used them all “. There’s gotta be a story somewhere in there 😂

Its cool to see Little Grip Garage helping out the smaller youtube channels like VGG with a collaboration.

I work for jasper engine's and our factory in willow springs Mo. builds the 6 cyl AMC that has a 3 year 100,000 mile transferable warranty. Use that number on that tag and jasper should be able to tell you the mileage of the jeep when it was installed

Derek, you’re a freaking awesome dad! It’s really impressive watching how patient you are with your son. There will probably be a day when he wants to do something different, keep him here with you. He will look back as a grown man and cherish every memory. God bless

I love the way you talk to your kids, Derek. Always teaching but never condescending. You're the best car show on youtube, hands down!
  • @sbc_4738
I love that boy's inquisitive nature. He's soaking it all up, Dad, great job!

I know how to fix cars Derrick. What I’m not good at is making an environment where my kids like working on them with me. This is where you’ve helped me the most. You’ve helped me with small tasks I can give them when they ask if they can help and make them feel important. This is why I thank you.

Man I wish I had a dad like Derek growing up, your sons are so lucky!
  • Hey Derek, just wanted to say thanks for keeping this show family friendly. It's one of the only car shows I feel comfortable watching around my little ones. I appreciate you!

  • reminds me of when I was a kid, keeping my dads 62 willys running so we could plow snow around the property in the winter. Some of my best memories. Loved this video
