The historical facts you point out about Porto are a reminder that with the age of discovery came an increase in the need for fortifications to protect cities. After all, as Portugal’s struggles with Spain and the French invasions suggest, Portugal’s age of discovery generated the envy of neighboring countries. It makes sense that discovering new lands and trading opportunities would generate potential threats for Portugal. Besides, if one civilization can discover another civilization, the discoverer civilization has to conclude that a not yet encountered civilization could find them. History aside, a tourist’s comparison I heard a couple of years ago articulated that “Lisbon is beautiful, but Porto is magical”. They clearly had the Ribiera area of the Porto in mind. Thank you for taking us there, Miguel.

We visited Porto a couple of times after first visiting Lisboa, the contrast was marked. Lisboa was all flashiness and glamour with an eye to the forthcoming (even then 20 years ago) tourist trade, whilst Porto was all about industry, business and hard work. I well remember the little cafés and restaurants along the Cais that still allowed through traffic (imagine our surprise when we saw the restaurant we ate in featured in the film "Love Actually"!) The Bolhao market before its "regeneration" and the tours of the port lojas in V.N. de Gaia with virtually no commercialism, although I can highly recommend the Baráo Fladgate Restaurant at the Taylor's Lodge! More great memories, thank you Miguel.

Boa noite Miguel, acabando de ver o video, infelizmente nunca estive no Porto apesar de ser mais perto da minha terra do que Lisboa, mas também so fui lá por ocasião da documentação para vir para o Brasil. Muito bonita a Cidade Invicta. No meu computador todas as telas de fundo são de motivos portugueses e a atual é uma foto do casario da Ribeira, outras das pontes D.Luiz l, Maria Pia, Arrábida e outras de Lisboa, Aveiro, Madeira etc. Uma ótima semana, abçs.

Boa tarde Miguel, que bom que você sempre reforça nas cidades os bairros que são históricos e o melhor de tudo para aqueles que lá já foram, matar as saudades e ter um olhar diferente sobre eles.. Porto realmente é cativante seja quantas vezes você for parecerá sempre uma primeira vez.. E ficou legal os fundos musicais do vídeo seja no estilo rock ou no instrumental de cordas, creio que violão ficou realmente massa👏👍.. Rapaz tá na hora de voltar a visitar Portugal creio que um período de 5 anos é ótimo para rever e ver locais por onde foi ou deixou de ir, vou planejar para 2024, levar meu filho caçula para conhecer antes que o mundo acabe 😂😂... abraços e tenha uma ótima semana 🤝👏

Mas vou te dizer: quando vamos passear por lá, não conseguimos ver tudo com tantos detalhes como se vê no seu vídeo.
