  • The interview felt very aggressive and antagonizing. The way it was worded felt like it was pushing the idea of “you fucked up you piece of shit.” The developer sounded very uncomfortable, and something to note is that he DID listen to his play testers a little bit. From the sound of it, they didn’t play a lot or even at all after the feedback he did use. Overall, it sounds like you’re expecting WAAAAAY too much of a single indie dev.
  • Rjac sounds so sad and embarrassed and I feel really bad for him, he's clearly been beating himself up over this for a while
  • @malkshayke
Poor Rjac. The interview sounded more critical than curious. There were times you started talking over him while he was still talking, which is rude af and genuinely surprised me. We still know next to nothing about his plans for the game, the implications, the lore, or even his favorite/ least favorite things about it. What inspired him to make it so BIG in the first place? Why so complex? How did he come up with the mechanics/ puzzles? Also, what other projects (if any) are there in the works? He sounded so sad the whole time…like he didn’t want to be there. I hope he comes back and doesn’t give up on making games, because he truly IS talented. He just needed better planning, that’s all.
  • 26:37 "It's a learning experience for everybody involved, mostly you-" That quote feels SO mean. Like, the whole interview feels harsh and tactless, but this feels like it purely was meant to put him down.
  • Ngl, you were way too harsh in that interview. It 100% sounded like a guilt trip. Just criticism after criticism, none constructive, like a scolding teacher after class; you didnt encourage him, advise him, give him any credit for what you said was legitimately good about the game, or what anyone with eyes can see about it - its visually stunning. He's seriously talented. I respect his passion and dedication and while he did mess some things up, 1) thats part of the game developing process, and 2) he wanted this to be his. I can understand that. He needs to open up, yes, needs more demos, but you did not make this clear. You brought him down, man, and that just wasnt cool.
  • @emmarose4257
The interview was not it. Sounded like the dev was just being scolded the whole time. He wasn’t given the opportunity to share his views, insights, or future aspirations. He just had to keep apologizing because the way the questions were phrased.
  • We should talk about how disrespectful and tactlessly uhyeah was talking to him. It's his first game, he's doing it solo. And he just kept hammering him. You can tell rjac is on the edge of tears.
  • uhyeah really dropped the ball on the interview, I hope he apologizes at some point. The entire thing was so negative and the dev dosnt owe us anything, it felt more like an interview you'd use against a Kickstart dev for releasing a buggy unfinished mess and running away with backer money than what you should use for an inde dev that released a passion project for free.
  • why are people berating him ??? he feels bad but he's trying. why did you go at him like that 😭
  • @heyits_hai
I feel bad for the dev, you can definitely tell from how he was talking that this was a disheartening thing to happen for him, and that he seems pretty ashamed that the game turned out the way it did. Obviously mistakes were made, but hopefully he can learn from this and improve for the future.
  • @EisenSMT
I can really empathize with Rjac here. The absolute shittiest feeling in the world is being super proud of something you've made, and finally releasing it after countless hours of blood sweat and tears, only to have endless criticism sent your way. Props to him for being able to talk about it, not sure if I'd be able to own it as well as he has.
  • @riley.....
I think your interview with Rjac was a huge missed opportunity. Your criticism of the game's development from the player's point of view is totally valid! It seems impossible - not just in a skill-based way, but ultimately in a mechanically disjointed way. However, this was a rare chance to talk to the dev directly. We could have gained some insight about what he wished he would have done differently, or what kind of experience he was hoping players would have, or which parts of this game he's in love with, and hopes to focus on and elaborate in future endeavors. It sounded to me that each of your questions were paraphrasings of the scathing comments that made him impulsively decide to unlist the game shortly after its release. He already knows about the frustrations you brought up, and he knows his game is flawed. Based on his responses, it sounded like he was compelled to apologize for all of the mistakes he made while developing this elaborate ass game, that he made as a passion project, then released for free. Sure, he got lost in the sauce while making it lol, but just looking at it - it's beautiful, it's complex, there are really creative puzzles and mechanics employed, all crammed into one package that happened to be way too tiny. In fact - I don't know that any of your complaints were about game-breaking bugs - and not even Security Breach can measure up to that! lol Rjac is obviously talented. He knows how to come up with unique ideas, and how to pull them off. I'm very impressed that the game he released was the game he meant to release. He just needed some help packaging that talent into a playable and accessible game. He sounded defeated. I hope he keeps trying!
  • The fact that one man would build such a good-looking game jam-packed with so many mechanics for each SEGMENT of it is maddeningly marvellous.
  • @Spooky_Sal
I genuinely do feel bad for Rjac. He obviously wanted to make a good game but made some major gameplay design mistakes. I hope this experience doesn't discourage him from making stuff in the future because he does have potential to make something great in the FNAF scene.
  • I know you're just a guy, not a PR rep, but like in that interview, it felt like you were putting words in his mouth. As well as asking loaded questions. The latter coming from how you put more criticism into your questions than actual curiosity. The former is how once you asked, sometimes you went on speaking after asking the question, rather than letting him speak. It's good to hear from him, but it felt like he was going through the guilt trip, rather than legitimately talking WITH you about the game.
  • This feels more like bullying then genuine criticism and feedback. Theres an actual person behind this game and judging by the interview alone theyre already completely disheartened by the reaction to the game to then be absolutely shit on during an opportunity that shouldve been a moment for them to explain what happened.
  • @apex1757
In an era of gaming where AAA games consistently come out half baked, the sheer amount of content is something to be respected
  • @vesselling
I feel bad for Rjac. He sounds like he's in incredible grief. The world is freaking against him, and he can't do anything but criticize himself so drama doesn't start. He sounds like he's a child being scolded by the school, on the verge of tears. Please, your work is really impressive, if you're reading this, this is not the end. This is a beautiful work of art, and you and your hard work are appreciated. Please don't take any of the criticism personally, rather as something to learn from. It is completely understandable how this happened, and it is NOT your fault. Thank you so much, and please keep improving. No one should hate you, and I'm sure that everyone will LOVE it every time you improve.
  • Its obvious he messed up by releasing it too soon, but man the way you were talking to him really was tasteless.
  • @elven1912
People are being entirely too bitter about a free game not meeting their expectations. The dev shouldn’t have to feel this insecure or anxious about a game that they didn’t owe anyone
