The less shirt buttons buttoned, the better the tone–I must try this, thanks Matthew Great playing srsly dude :D
  • Matthew, I'm 67 years old , I've been around guitars for over 50 of those years and as I write this the tears are falling on my 'phone. That was one of the greatest guitar moments of my life.Absolute magic ..beyond any more words...thank you man
  • I’m nearly 70 and have played since I was 11 years old. THAT was the most deeply emotional tone and soul touching playing I’ve ever heard. Wow. Just, well, wow. Thank you for sharing that.

Matthew, I just wanna tell you man, you are one of the only guitar channels I always enjoy. The fact that you don't use any YouTube/commercial tricks or hacks. Always humble and genuine and share a true love for these instruments that make us so happy through playing music. Only we know how much it all means in our lives. The fact that you're patiently looking around for these vintage finds and appreciate them. Don't ever leave this lifestyle! much appreciation brother, keep being yourself.

That reverb is straight from outer space. Makes the amp sound like Stevie is playing up in heaven and letting it shine down to earth... Wow is right!
  • That's one of the best sounding amps I've heard in a very, very long time.

I bought a new super reverb amp around 1969 along with an SG. I sold it and the guitar a few years later and always regretted it, but my wild oats were calling and rational decisions werent my strong suit. Twenty years later i moved to Minnesota and had a hobby farm, 40 acres and no neighbors. I converted one of the buildings into a studio, bought another super reverb, had a Gibson gold top, Fender strat and i tell you what, i had many nights and days of pure heaven jamming away. People would ask why do you play that loud and i'd say cuz it wont go any louder. So when i would get done jamming, i would come out and i would hear a big herd of cows bunched up at the closest spot they could get to the studio all looking at me and mooing very loudly, they loved my guitar playing and it was a real satisfying experience. That super reverb tho, when you are really getting down that amp would seem like it got another 30 or 40 watts from somewhere and it would take off with a tone that always had me goosebumped to the max! In my humble opinion, there is no other amp for me, thanks for reading this, i feel better now.
  • Dude..... I cant believe how good you play man...it made me break down. I lost my parents a few years ago and we all loved srv. Your playing reminded me of when my dad and I would listen to srv cranked thru 12" pioneer speakers...I don't know why, but your video reminded me of those times...I just found your channel man so I'm a new sub for sure...never stop playing man you have a true gift.
  • @zwitchguitars
You should add one of those decibel meters in the background, so we can appreciate how loud these monster amps are
  • @grafen3teiner
This Amp must be made in heaven and makes a Strat sounds like a "real" Strat should sound........wonderful!

It thrills me to see a man of your caliber accquire this level of excellence. It's a perfect match for you. Don't let this one get away, and don't touch it! Start searching for the next set of tubes now, and when you find them, put them away some place safe, because eventually you'll need them and you don't want any down time or less than first rate tubes (or any other parts) in this jewel. This amp is a perfect storm, a textbook example of how a mass produced factory made piece can transcend it's own design and become something far beyond what Leo, or anybody else anticipated. Everything came together just right on this one, and that doesn't happen every day. Play it, rock it, blow the roof off the house with it, but take extra special care of it and never skimp on anything it might need in the future. It's on another plane altogether from most of the run of the mill examples out there, and it's Golden, with a capital G! You are now the guardian of a mighty sword that others will cherish long after all of us are gone. Congratulations! You were ready for it and it appeared. There it is. Use it well!
  • @omniversalll
Swear I can hear Stevie speaking through that amp. Absolutely incredible.
  • @markjackson5665
So the Strat is tuned down a half-step, Hendrix-style, and the Special down to D. Really resonates! 🙂
  • @YoshiAddict
Not only do you have some seriously special gear, you're a really great player. I'm sure it took a lot of work to get to where you are and I'm glad that so much has come together for you. It was great listening to you play, good luck with the album.
  • @zachlindley1145
The way you pour so much soul into your playing is incredibly inspirational. I've been trying to learn some techniques from your videos! I even got a dual showman just because of you haha keep rocking man!
  • @beachcomber4141
Ohh yesssssss. THATS the sound. I loved what you came up with during the first strat jam. Made me lay back and close my eyes. Beautiful stuff man. If I found one of these and it sounded like that, I would feel like I had FINALLY found it!!! Congrats for scoring that beauty!!!
  • @Rockzilla404
This by far is the most informative and entertaining guitar/amp video that I've seen on this site. Great equipment, not too much talk, no studio tracks, great playing and you made it about the amp and not about you. That has to be the best sounding bridge pickup I've ever heard on a Strat. Thanks for sharing..
  • Wow, never seen one with JBLs. This is the best combination of mellow and crisp tone in the same time, very balanced. I bet you'll love this for recordings. Top content as always Matt, huge thanks!
  • @infusedkatze
Stunning. This is THE sound, perfect combination of player, guitar an amp. This Strat sounds badass!!
