This song was written by Willie Nelson when he was a struggling songwriter/singer. He offered it to Faron for $500.00 but Faron said he wouldn't buy it but he would record it. Faron said that when Willie got his first royalty check "he kissed me right in the mouth" The check was for $20,000.00. Faron Young was an honorable man.

I think F😅aron Young had one of the best and purest country music voices of all time. He's sang country but I think he could have sang anything.

Back when Country Music was both County and was actually real Music

At 77 years young, this was my favorite song by Faron Young

My Dad loved this song and while in hospice I played this numerous times for him. God Bless you Dad, still miss you

As a Texan, this is the country music that I was raised on. It’s what I’m sure many of us native Texans consider to be the genuine article of country music.
-
(I’m torturing myself with sad country songs.) this was on the jukebox at my dad's restaurant 1962 💖

Mr. Young dated my my Mom when he was in service. Before she passed away she gave me a set of china that Mr. Young gave her as a gift when he was stationed over sea's. May he rest in peace.

I just spent the last 10 hours being forced to listen to this modern day country music while hanging out with my friends and all of that can't even come CLOSE to how awesome this is. This is real country music.

One of the "Greatest" of all time I wish country today was like old country

Fell in love with COUNTRY music while watching Faron singing on the Grand Old Opera when I was 6-7 years old and still love it (and him) 75 years later!! :)

I'm 66 and I can still see every move my parents danced together in the kitchen to this song

I remember long hot summers in the late 60's as a kid going for day trips in my dad's old logging trucks listening to this type tunes on a old tube type am radio. I miss the old days, they were more fun without cell phones and computers

My old man is repairing and painting the walls of their 20 year old lakefront home in Michigan. It made me think of this classic, so, naturally, I had to send him a link to this song! HELLO, CEILING!
