I wok at best buy and when I get customers looking for a cd player but they react badly to how expensive the higher end cd players are these days I always recommend the sony DVD player and tell them to use the coax digital out and it will sound great and they all look at me like I am crazy or don't know that I'm talking about.

That's funny; this morning I retrieved my old (but perfectly functional and mint condition) Samsung DVD player from the basement and hooked it up to my desktop Schiit stack and near-field speakers, simply because I don't see the value of buying a $900 CD transport. And the Samsung works fine using its S/PDIF coax output.

Another useful video. I'll lean on this one as I continue to add to my own cheap (but amazing) Chinese/american/DIY stereo system. I'm loving the flexibility of being able to throw both old and new together seamlessly and get phenomenal sound for pennies on the dollar in relation to what we paid back in the 70's and 80's. Inflation hasn't destroyed everything just yet. Might have to get that SMSL PS100 and try the coax and optical for CD's.

WiiM Mini and a Sony $30 bluray player as a transport into an SU-1 then into the FOSI BT20A Pro which is powering a set of vintage Boston Acoustics A60s. That's my workroom system and it sounds amazing. ll thanks to Randy's advice. Much appreciated sir.

Great video, Mr. Randy! I resurrected an old Panasonic DVD player that has a digital audio out, optical, and connected it to a digital audio in on a CXA61 and it sounds fabulous. It also sounded great using a Schiit DAC and vintage Pioneer amp/receivers without spending a fortune. The real cheapaudioman in full action.

I've had the Fosi audio X2 preamp for several years, I love the sound in conjunction with my old technics DL3 t table. Well worth $ 60 odd bucks.

Your ptevipus video u stated it was good for tv viewing, which I agree, you didn't seem to like it for other DAC duties much. I'm happy you do now. MUCH better than the RGb TEK unit I used prior❤
