Recently, my friend James and his father both bought brand new McLarens. Unfortunately, the experience was less than ideal and one of the cars wound up being replaced. Because you'll all know that doesn't normally happen, I thought you all deserved to know the truth about what happened, and so here it is.

"Hand built is just another way of saying the door will fall off." - Jeremy Clarkson
  • I was about to buy a McLaren and thanks to this video, I successfully made an investment in a Toyota Camry

Geez, when you buy a 70k cadillac, the dealers bring champagne, strawberries and cream to the closing. When you get your caddy serviced, they give you gourmet coffee, brioche and swiss chocolate. For 400 k, McLaren should be providing hookers.

An English car that breaks if parked in the rain - now there's brilliant engineering.

Went to a Porsche dealership when I was 16. They let me sit and play in all of them. Sales person handed me his card and said “kid, if you work hard someday you will come back and buy one of these.” 40 years later I did....only because I was treated so nicely! Shame on you McClaren.
  • Shocking! I'm amazed that they still kept the cars. I would have lost my shit ages ago and told them to stuff it. No car is worth that hassle!!

The fact that McLaren's are designed and built in England and can't even go in the rain says everything you need to know about the brand. It sounds like something you would hear from an Onion article.

Whoever wrote those documents is the same chap who keeps sending me emails telling me I'm owed $15 million by the former Nigerian oil minister.
  • I never expected to watch a 40min+ video featuring a bloke droning on about poor service at a luxury supercar dealership...... But, I was entranced....it was so brilliantly presented and calmly delivered without recourse to bad language or frustration, however obviously & perfectly justifiable. Well done sir. I tip my hat!

The BMW dealer where I serviced my 3 series when I was living in Pretoria should write a manual on achieving customer satisfaction… They rolled out an actual red carpet when you just had your car services with them. The staff familiarized themselves with the name of each car’s owner beforehand and everyone addressed you by title and surname from the moment you set foot out of your car to drop it off for a service. The dealer manager did the rounds and spoke with every customer personally in their lounge whilst we waited to finish the paperwork and had coffee made for us. They made me feel like I was buying an M8 competition when I just had my 320d serviced. I would travel from anywhere in the world to buy a car from them every time!

“...at that point, we’d decided we didn’t want anything to do with Manchester.” Yeah... that’s about how I’ve felt for years.

You have convinced me never to even consider buying a McLaren. Thank you.
  • @anotherbyteinc
geez, this is not longer about service.. its about decency

Imagine having a job as a salesman for a product that sells itself... and then completely cocking it up

Watched this video two years ago, and when it popped up today… I ended up watching the entire 40 minute video again. You’re a fascinating story teller!

Weatherman: A chance of rain over the coming days. Mclaren Manchester: Unplug the phone line.

So glad I decided to buy an Aston. The Aston Martin experience was amazing. I would never buy a Mclaren after seeing this. Completely unacceptable for a dealer to act like that.

I believe Jeremy Clarkson said that hand made means the door will just fall off.
