Blackbird. Page 1 in Marion's Fabric Bird Book.

Published 2023-07-16
Well here is part 2 of the video I made yesterday. The first page in my new fabric book. There was so much to get in I split it into two parts and this has still ended up longer than I wanted. But I didn't want to miss things out...
Of course it had to be a blackbird! My little visitor comes every day but it's been too wet to get a photo of him today I'm afraid.

  • I appreciate your teaching style. You do not rush and do not speed up the video. Watching you doing repetitive stitches or techniques helps me remember the steps. I also like there are no music on your videos to distract us. Your calming voice, a silence background and watching you work and show how to do things several times, with the addition of birds signing on the background or your little kitty saying “hi” is absolutely lovely.

Hi Marion! Your filming style is natural and without pretense. Re music in between your instructions: I for one like the silence in between while you’re musing and thinking, it’s like having a friend stitching with you in a comfortable silence. I don’t mind silence. Thank you for the tip on the whipping stitch and the chain stitch! Your creative mind must be full of projects! Thank you for taking the time to share your talent with us. ❤ 🌷tess

Your filming was perfect! Don’t be concerned about a few silent moments. I really enjoy your quiet gentle ways. Beautiful start to what will be an exquisite book. Hugs and blessings, 🇨🇦❤️🤗
  • It's amazing to watch you work, and see how quickly you make something complicated look so easy. You create such a cozy vibe that any silence is a comfortable one. Thank you for demonstrating and explaining the stitches you are using, and how many strands of thread. I'm stitching along while I embellish tiny crazy quilt squares made by my grandma years ago. I will be now be adding those stitches into my project. Thank you for sharing! 💕

Your filming of your stitching is just great! Don't worry--we can see exactly what you are doing. I'm so excited to try the "padding" of my first bird--what a clever idea! You are an excellent teacher, Marion--thank you for sharing your talent with us all. PS--don't worry about the quiet spaces when you are working--it's actually really nice to simply watch your hands work and digest the information you've given us. Thank you!

I think your filming style is fine is natural and relaxing. I've been embroidering for quite a few years now, but in just a few videos, I've learned new techniques and have started looking at it differently. So, thank you for sharing your gift and insights. It's refreshing to see someone with a new voice sharing their unique vision.

Wow, Marion, your structuring of the blackbird is amazing, and you nearly have me believing that I could perhaps do something in a similar vein, but I am going to wait until the next episode before I commit, it might get harder .🙃 Love what you show, I have been binge-watching your videos to catch up. Love that there is no music, silence is golden when concentrating.
