1993 Polaris STORM- original first year Polaris Muscle Sled

Published 2022-12-26
The new STORM was built for the rider that wanted to be first across the lake and loved the triple pipe exhaust note that only a triple piped triple can produce.

The 1993 Storm featured a new Fuji 744cc that put out 130 plus hp. It was the largest production triple ever produced by the Roseau factory. It is the first to have three individual tuned pipes. It is the first to have a crankcase reed induction system and crankcase cooling. And it is the first to use the all-new "dropped front" chassis. The race for muscle sled supremacy was on!

This example was previously owned by a fastidious sled head. Well maintained, with a stout engine and power train.

The hood is interesting. The black background is highlighted with tiny gold-colored metal flakes. It pops in the sunlight

It's not all original but tastefully embellished with blue ski skins and a studded track.

  • What an awesome speed machine! In my opinion, the Polaris line up from 1993-1995, had the most beautiful sleds ever made. The STORM, RXL, and XLT Special were absolute eye candy😍

93, I was 9 and thought guys on those were so cool and yes, any neon was in style.
  • See fellas how nice these sleds look when you don't put a ton of aftermarket garbage on them and then wonder why you can't sell it? Looks nice huh??
  • I love the 'Classics'! Thats when snowmobiling WAS snowmobiling! Miss those days!
  • Beautiful Storm! Love to see them on the snow and here the triple pipes sing!

'92 VMax-4 video... '93 MachZ triple video... and This Storm video.. all so clean and nice. Thanks for history lesson.

Man that machine sure brings back memories. My uncle had one. Such an animal! I had a 650 indy. I could hang until towards the top half..then he was gone. So so fast.
  • @Joulupunkk1
Vmax 4 you mentioned is actually twin pipe, not four. But four cylinders of course. Great video, please continue posting these classic era sleds. These are becoming more and more popular amongst people like me who have lived their teens when these were new.
  • Nice sled and nice video. You're a great speaker. Very charismatic 👌

My buddy still has his 750cc storm...2900miles ..great machine's, throttle pull sucks, but she's a screamer..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
  • I felt like my 1988 polaris 650 indy sks was a muscle sled. Appreciate your content and knowledge on these sleds.

This video hurts my heart! I was 22 in 93 & we live in a Lake Community, I bought the 750 & had it modified quite a bit. It was stolen a couple yrs later during the summer & I had been irresponsible & let the insurance lapse for the summer, still had payments to make & nothing to show for it. Never recovered! I just lost my Mother (83) 1/2/2023 after a horrific battle with Dementia, may she RIP. My brother-in-law whom I grew up riding with, I introduced him to my sister, were just talking about those days & my stolen sled & how sick it still makes me! I had it pinstriped "Weather The Storm" on the hood. I still look for that thing to this day, although I'm sure it was unrecognizable with days. May she RIP also! Beautiful video! Sub'd!
  • Thats so clean. I honestly was not expecting what I saw under the hood, what a beauty.
  • Hello I purchased an SKS 750 storm brand new... Those Blue springs on your shocks in the front we're not factory.... And you might want to mention that engine came from the water craft division of Polaris... The year that came out on snowcheck we're not delivered to the dealer Network until the first week of December.... Factories explanation was still trying to fit those pipes under the hood... I drove -7800 miles... Very trouble-free machine... But if you blew a belt at top speed watch out it might take your left foot off.... This was a steel cylinder engine... 94-95 where Nick Cacile.... 94-95 also had a recall on getting the porting deburred they had a few issues.

Thanks for the show around! It certainly was an interesting era for snowmobiles. I am a lake runner by heart, my holiday sled is a RX-1 and I love to let her loose on a good lake trail.
  • Valdi Thank You for posting. I started snowmobiling with my brother Steve in the early 70s in Pennsylvania then moved out to California. Started snowmobiling again in 2015 in the Sierras. Your videos inform me what I missed in the 60s, late 70s, 80s, and 90s. You are my snowmobile time machine. Kindly Keep it Up. Good Riding for you this Season!!
  • Great old machines!! I think the term "Hyper sled" was coming out around that same time for the bigger triple and quad motors above 750cc. and muscle sleds were the the usual twins in slightly smaller displacement.
  • These were fun boat anchors 🤣🤣 I had a 94 Storm 800. Fun. Beautiful. Still a boat anchor ⚓ 😂
  • @OIFsurvivor
Currently own a '95 storm. Bought it with all original parts. Only change i made was plastic skis. She may need a overhaul this fall to keep her in good shape. But wouldn't trade it for a newer model!
  • Wow! Love the speedometer look on these old sleds. My dads buddies sled is a Polaris 1996 XC 600.
