Cleveland Browns HOFer Joe Thomas says Dawand Jones should be the Browns starting tackle over Conkli

Published 2024-04-24
The emergence of 2023 fourth round pick Dawand Jones last season, who filled in valiantly at right tackle after Jack Conklin was lost for the season in Week 2, has muddied the water at both tackle positions. Between Conklin, Jones and left tackle Jedrick Wills, someone is going to be the odd man out if they're all still on the roster come August.
Having too many starting caliber players at any position is never something a coach is going to complain about. In fact, just last week at the NFL Combine Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski seemed to relish the fact that the position group is so deep.

"It's a great problem to have," he said. "I feel awesome about all of our guys, but the three guys you're talking about, I feel great about 'em."

It also serves as a luxury for the Browns after a 2023 campaign that was marred by an unprecedented number of injuries. The trio of Conklin, Wills and Jones fell victim to the epidemic themselves, with each suffering season-ending knee injuries at different points of the season.

  • If Joe Thomas speaks about a lineman you listen and do what he says ! This man is a legend ! He was the best lineman the Browns have ever had ! Please let the Browns eventually get him as the line coach! Joe is the ultimate professional and a master at his craft !

As long as he takes on TJ Watt every snap against Pittsburgh i dont care where he plays besides this🤙

You ask to keep the comments respectful but then you take the first 2 minutes and disrespect by talking about something completely unrelated to the title.
  • Is that what he said? Or did he say the one Jones could play right and then they have options as in concrete could play left
  • I would platoon those guys. Give some series to Conklin, then some to Jones. Exploit match-ups. Let 'em rest a bit. Keep them fresh for the fourth quarter.

The only problem I ever had with JT is the fact that after James Harrison knocked out Colt McCoy, Mohamed Massoquoi and Josh Cribbs NONE and I mean NONE of the o-lineman came to their defense. I remember when Tashaun Gibson (Browns) laid out Jake Locker (Titans) in 2014, Taylor Lewan, a rookie went right after Gibson. This is how you do it, the lineman is supposed to take care of their players after a cheap shot. If I ever had a chance, I'd love to ask JT for a reply. Maybe that's not his demeanor. I do recall that Cameron Ervin was not a very good offensive lineman for the Browns, but I do remember seeing him come to the defense of a Browns player taking another cheap shot from the Steelers. I just think the Steelers intimidated our entire team from the coin flip.

Had to immediately go and check out Cannibal Holocaust. Its actually Ms. Cannibal Holocaust and if someone actually thought those were real torture n murders they Most Definitely need glasses, anatomy classes, biology classes and some common sense. I couldn't make it past 20 minutes its an absolutely Horrible movie and the 1st two "realistic murder scenes" were as fake as a rubber chicken. 😅😂

Jones needs to move to left. Wells move to the right . And Jack needs to set get healthy and he can help any spot right or lft if inj or bad play or he can move to guard if needed. Theres always going to be inj on the oline. At this stage in his career hes been inj to much for us. So hes a spot player. You can not depend on him for a whole season.🟫🟧⬜️🟧🟫
