People who were too young or not alive in 1996 will never understand how big of a star will Smith was when this came out. He knocked off bad boys, independence day and men in black back to back to back. Him and Jim Carrey were the two biggest stars in the world

That "fire at will" confusion made me tear up with laughter. Just imagining if it played out how Hannah thought at first, everyone just shoots at Will Smith randomly.

Awww Hannah’s face when the Dad sacrificed himself. She was laughing at his antics and then the wave of realization he had just died hit her hard. Ash is just hilarious. He does remind me of Will Smith with his humor. 😂😂

A lot of people miss this, and it's no surprise since I think it's just literally one line of spoken dialogue in the beginning of the movie, but the reason why the president can fly a plane is because he was a fighter pilot in the Gulf War.

If the CGI still looks good in 2023, imagine how mind blown people were in the 90s. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen this movie.

My sister and I saw this the day after it opened on July 4th, in the theatre. When Bill Pullman gave that speech the entire theatre burst in to applause and cheers. We all walked out feeling so patriotic. Such a great memory!

Jeff Goldblum in "Jurassic Park": "Must go faster..." 🦖 Jeff Goldblum in "Independence Day": "MUST GO FASTER!" 👽 Also, this was unreal to see in the theater. What a time to be a moviegoer because the special effects were amazing and seeing the Empire State Building blowing up was such a sight to see!
