Been trying to follow the steps here to get KH3 running. Currently getting a black screen when getting past the copyright movie. Same issue happens with 0.2 BBS. If anyone has got KH3 working via. Heroic on Steam deck feel free to post what you did exactly (as much detail for a linux noob as possible)!

I've been searching all over for a video that would show me how to get kh to work. Yours is the only one that was actually helpful. Many thanks to you.

From what I've researched, the mf-install script mentioned in the pre-requisites is required in order to run the opening movie, which is why it goes black. Can't figure out if I've even installed it correctly though, as I'm still having issues =/. Got to the menu once. Not sure how you got it running in your other video though, GJ!

I found a solution. Kingdom Hearts 3 uses mediafoundation for its prerendered cutscenes. newer versions of wine include a reimplementation of mediafoundation which is not compatible with the kh3 movies. There is the mf-install script that installs a working version of mediafoundation. Running this with a wine version which already includes the mediafoundation reimplementation completely breaks mediafoundation for the entire prefix. The prefix needs to be created with wine-6.6tkg or older and never updated to a version which includes the reimplementation. You need to change the wine calls in the mf-install script to the path of the wine-6.6tkg binary (else it'll run with the system wine installation which will break the prefix), run mf-install and then run the game.
