Testing out my Rubens tube in the Blackett Laboratory at Imperial College. This can be thought of as a long propane BBQ with a speaker at one end, that allows sound waves to propagate along the gas in the tube. If we get the frequency correct we can set up standing waves in the gas which you can see via the flames.

    Great Job.  Sop what causes the single over sized flame in the middle?  Aperture diameter?  proximity to the gas source?
