Sonic Origins is a Sonic the Hedgehog video game compilation by Sega. Features remasters of the first four platformers in the Sonic series originally released for the Sega Genesis and SEGA CD: Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992), Sonic CD (1993), and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles ( 1994). Games are playable in both their original format and a new widescreen format that removes lives. Origins adds additional game modes and missions, which allow players to unlock content in an in-game museum.

Origins was conceived after the release of the Sonic 2020 movie; due to the influx of new fans, Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka wanted to make older Sonic games available on modern hardware. It was primarily developed at Sega, although Simon Thomley, who worked on Sonic Mania (2017), developed the Sonic 3 & Knuckles remaster. Origins is scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on June 23, 2022, the 31st anniversary of the series.

Sonic Origins compiles and remasters the first four platformers in Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog series - Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992), Sonic CD (1993), and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles (1994)ā€” originally released for the Sega Genesis and Sega CD. The player controls Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, and Knuckles the Echidna as they try to stop Doctor Robotnik from stealing the Chaos Emeralds. They traverse side-scrolling levels at high speeds as they collect rings, defeat enemies and bosses, and find secrets. Unlike the originals, the player can control Tails and Knuckles in any game, with the exception of Knuckles in Sonic CD. Sonic 3 & Knuckles' "Blue Spheres" minigame is also included.

Origins features two versions of each game: "Classic Mode" is the original format, presented in 4:3, while "Anniversary Mode" supports widescreen displays, removes lives, and allows Sonic to use "drop dash". from Sonic Mania (2017). A "story mode" allows players to play through the four games in a row as Sonic, with new animated cutscenes that bridge their stories. New modes include a boss race mode; a mirror mode that reverses level layouts; and a mission mode that challenges players to complete specific objectives. An in-game museum allows players to view a collection of music, art, and videos, including in-game cutscenes. Players can earn coins through gameplay, which can be used to purchase content for the museum or additional attempts at special stages. Players who pre-order the game will start with 100 coins and mirror mode unlocked. Menu aesthetics, a set of harder missions, and tracks from Sonic Spinball (1993), Knuckles's Chaotix (1995), and Sonic 3D Blast (1996) for the museum's music player are available as downloadable content (DLC).

    Sonic origins Ć© a colectania de vĆ”rios jogos cheios de extras e realmente parece ter um preƧo alto comparando a jogos AAA.. mas o que muitos nĆ£o sabem porque nem sequer tinham nascido naquela altura... Ć© que um Ćŗnico jogo do megadrive e do sonic original era muito mais caro no lanƧamento e se colocarmos na balanƧa a inflaĆ§Ć£o e salĆ”rio mĆ­nimo da altura fica ainda mais caro... sou de portugal e sĆ³ para terem noĆ§Ć£o o sonic origins custa atualmente 30 euros onde o salĆ”rio minimo sĆ£o 840 euros, se tiver em promoĆ§Ć£o no psn chega a ser uns 10 ou 15 euros....mas em 1994 lembro de ver apenas o sonic 3 Ć  venda por equivalente de 80/90 euros com salĆ”rio minimo de 250 euros era um luxo ter um jogo do sonic na altura nĆ£o existiam euros mas 90 euros convertidos para a moeda portuguesa era (18 000 escudos o preƧo do jogo) e o salĆ”rio minimo 50 000 escudos, um salĆ”rio completo mal dava para comprar metade da coletania do sonic origins

    O Zoado Ć© que o modo clĆ”ssico tem vidas, mas, Ć© emulado, nĆ£o tem drop dash, spin dash (no sonic 1), e tem todos os bugs dos jogos originais. Enquanto o modo aniversĆ”rio, Ć© um remaster, tem drop dash, e spin dash (no sonic 1), tem os bugs dos jogos originais corrigidos, mas, nĆ£o tem vidas. NĆ£o daria trabalho simplesmente fazer a versĆ£o remaster ter vidas, nĆ£o seria trabalhoso simplesmente adicionar vidas no remaster, e usar a versĆ£o remaster com vidas no modo clĆ”ssico, e a versĆ£o remaster sem vidas do modo aniversĆ”rio.
