Welcome to Toronto and I hope you will be very happy here. After binging all day on tours of New York City apartments, it was very interesting to see your video touring apartments in my home city of Toronto. It was also interesting to hear a newcomer's description of the various areas, all of which are fairly familiar to me, and have at one time or another housed friends of mine. The only thing about which I am slightly unclear, is whether all or some of the units you toured were rentals in condominium buildings, or apartments in multi-unit rental buildings. My interest in the distinction is because in a multi-unit rental buildings, you can normally continue your occupancy for as long as you choose and they are also generally under rent control, whereas renting a condominium unit leaves you without the benefit of rent control, and also vulnerable to legally notified termination of tenancy at anytime that the landlord wants to claim they need the apartment back for personal use. As a lazy, retired woman, I'm not looking to make many more moves from this point on so that distinction would be quite significant for me. Otherwise, kudos on a well-presented & produced video which was entertaining and educational.
  • I just moved into my first Toronto apartment too from Jamaica! And I totally understand your apartment hunt journey. You start to say okay what will I have to compromise on. Loved the video! New subscriber
  • I like the last one too! My hubs and I live in Toronto and wanting to give UK specifically Scotland a go(where hes from) because Torontos gotten so badly out of our budget. Helpful seeing your perspective. We live in a renovated "toronto special" building and patiently waiting for our neighbour to move out so we can snatch up the two bedroom and get out of our one bedroom (and not break the bank). Enjoy your new place!!! ❤

The Sherbourne ones you dodged a bullet!! I currently live in that building and it’s been HORRIBLE

Hi Naomi! Thanks for making the video. I will soon be moving there for work from the US, so wondering if the commissions for realtors are high, and should just look for apartments myself, or are realtors fees justified?
  • Hey, thank you for the video. it was very helpful. when you mention a queen size bed, is that equivalent to a UK double or is it an actual queen size bed please and also I am from London and moving soon, do they ask for 6 months rent upfront as a new comer or just first and last month rent. Thanks for your help x
