The indoor cycling training market is a very competitive one, and there are a lot of big names out there. However, some of these competitor platforms create environments which are so gamified, they lack the connection to the real world. Rouvy on the other hand has all the workouts, events and community functions as its competitors but still retains the feeling of the real world, thanks to the platforms Real Roads.

This video was created in partnership with Rouvy.

I like how the Italy route you actually get buzzed by drivers just like in reality 😀

Much prefer Rouvy to Zwift. Much more routes to choose from and a lot less synthetic looking. Shame the player avatar customisation features are so weak, but overall a solid product.
  • Great review! I'm so stoked to check this platform out. The realism and variety of routes definitely appeals to me.

I really like Rouvy. I feel like im cycling and not in an arcade game. Zwift is going off in some weird direction that makes no sense to me.

Rouvy is awesome. Real world routes makes it realistic, not like a video game

Is a great platform. Do still find it weird Sam, that you referred to it in the beginning of your video, as the ‘game’. I understand Zwifting referring to a game, but there is nothing about Rouvy that seems like a game to me. It is a training option. And riding on it is just training really. Anyhoo - just an observation. Good video.

I like Rouvy, I prefer it over Zwift. I don't like riding on the trainer but if I must I'd rather see real world scenery than a virtual one. Zwift might have more features but I just like that I can ride and see another part of the world and somewhat enjoy my ride. I have even found some of my local climbs on it so I can train on them and get used to the pitches before hitting them in real life. I just enjoy riding in a real world scenario more, it's much more a simulation than a game that Zwift is.

Thanks for this video. I used the last two winters mainly Wahoo Systm and hoped that they will increase the routes for Wahoo RGT. Unfortunately, they will stop it. Now I am curious whether I should change to Rouvy or MyWhoosh. Could you do a video about MyWhoosh?

Loves this platform, been using it since 2018
  • @alanthompson9240
Is anyone else on the platform? Last winter I gave it a spin and there were maybe 10 other riders while Zwift had about 6k.

The video proves that there is actually something like interesting advertising. I give it a shot again. Last time 1 or 2 years ago it was only ok’ish. Riding the same routes again and again on Zwift really gets old.

I’ve used Rouvy for 3 yrs and it preps me for Spring when most of the snow has disappeared. I’m not trading this for anything. the recent upgrades were flawless for downloading. I have some local rides on Rouvy and it looks/feels the same.
  • @paulinaki3268
Does Rouvy also have the correspondent noises to the scenery, like car and bird noises? In former days I used to listen to bird noises (from youtube) while riding the virtual tracks. I somehow need that that for making it more real and escape the living room..

How is erg mode turned off during workout mode? I noticed you rode the workout in resistance mode.
  • I use Zwift. If I can't race in Zwift it's value (to me) drops significantly. The racing is fun of course when it goes well. But being on the West Coast (lack of events when I ride) and the cheatin' (I don't care about losing so much as getting a good workout, but the cheating changes the dynamic of many races)... If I can't race in Zwift then the competitors become far more attractive. Rouvy looks really good but I don't think they should be charging the same (or higher?) price that Zwift does. Any competitor to Zwift HAS TO gain some of that market share before they can even think about charging the same price as Zwift.

I don't mind having the scenery, but xan you set it in resistance mode rather than simulation and just ride ar your own power?
