The newest series of Titleist drivers includes the Titleist TSR drivers, which are designed to deliver faster, longer, and straighter tee shots through refined technology and construction. But how do the Titleist TSR drivers stack up against its previous models, such as the TSi drivers, TS drivers, and 917 drivers?

In this video, 2nd Swing's Drew Mahowald and Danny Ferrell conduct a Trackman test to showcase the performance of the Titleist TSR2 driver against previous Titleist drivers in the high-MOI category, including the TSi2 driver, TS2 driver, and 917 D2 driver.

I finally decided to retire my 917 D2 driver. Last year I bought new irons, this year I'm replacing my woods. I had a lot of time over the winter to test different drivers. In the Callaway line I liked the Rogue over the new Paradigm. In the Taylormade line I preferred the Stealth 2 over the Stealth but wasn't crazy about either, The Ping drivers were OK but not for me. In the end it boiled down to the Titleist TSI2 and TSR2 although I was also very impressed with the Roque and could have easily gone in that direction. Visually I did like the R over the I. To me the sound of the I was louder and the R was more muted but was not a factor. I found the I to be a bit more forgiving on hits off center. In the end I chose the TSI2 for $200 less than the TSR2. I took the money saved and put it toward a new TSR2 5 wood. I think there is a much bigger improvement in the TSR fairway woods over the TSI fairway woods, where the driver differences didn't justify the extra cost.

Love the review and analysis! The Tsr2 is very nice. I just can't justify spending more cash for a 2 yd gain over my Tsi2
  • I think the tsr is a different club from the tsi2 - it really fits in between 2 & 3. based on the results, I would go for the tsi2 for 1/2 the price.

why the Titleist blitz but nothing on cobra ltdx fairway woods ? even the ltdx driver didn't get much attention. waiting on the said video on tsr vs ltdx

What does a "faster " driver actually mean? higher clubhead speed, etc.

Last club swung bias. hit the TSR first and the TS last, bet you results would be different. Better to do alternate shot.

1.5 yards gain for all that money. (?). Another video on YouTube also compares TSI2 to the TSR2 and the carry yardage was 1 yard longer in favour of TSR2 but total yardage was identical. And this guy hit the ball a total of 332 yards with both. So I don’t see all the walls and the surprises as drivers have maxed out and as much as people can lead on that something is drastic and such a big change… It’s all a con. I’ll save my money for sure. There’s other drivers out there that are longer than this one for less money and maybe even a few years old already. But why would anybody review a new driver and show the results as worse than last year, would it make the manufacture a bit ticked?
