A Singapore Airlines flight hit severe turbulence over the Indian Ocean and descended 6,000 feet (around 1,800 meters) in about three minutes, the carrier said Tuesday. A British man died and authorities said dozens of passengers were injured, some severely. An airport official said the 73-year-old man may have had a heart attack, though that hadn’t been confirmed. His name wasn’t immediately released.

When they say keep your seatbelt on, they're serious keep your seatbelt on because turbulence can be an unknown and unexpected thing to toss you about the cabin like a rag doll.

Gotta appreciate their response, the airline did what they could to react in a way as to minimize the fallout

That’s truly so sad because there’s nothing the pilots could really do.

I hate how people will be blaming the airline for this when it's really not their fault. It's not their fault that they experienced turbulence, every plane does, this patch was just really bad.

My deepest condolences to the family members of the deceased passenger. Prayers for everyone that went through this experience 🙏

Wonder if the turbulence triggerd a heart attack.

I bet with the amount of stress that that plane went through, that they are still using it in service with zero maintenance. The flight crew said that the plane dropped almost 700 ft in one lurch from turbulence which is not common. That puts a lot of stress on a plane.

As Miss frizzle always said, seat belts everyone!
  • everyone fails to follow the #1 rule, "stay calm, think rationally". they did neither

What sound does an airplane bouncing up and down in turbulence make?
    Boeing Boeing Boeing!
  • @pinoygal6232
Why did this only happen to one airplane?
Did everyone else have the sense to fly around the turbulence?
  • Did you get it right listen to the original source before you start to spread inaccuracy.
