I was very pleased to take a look at this set today, this was the first time I'd given it a blast with the magic spray, WOW, what a gorgeous set.

Make sure you're buying the real deal and not a Platymiscium genus species by mistake, Macacauba is often sold as Amazon Rosewood.

Beautiful Amazon Rosewood & amazing sound Thank you Tommy for your cool video's I wish I was luthier build guitars & Cittern But I'm JUST a simple Watercolourist & Cittern player . Cheers Tommy
  • Wow, that wood rings deliciously! That's gonna make a mouth watering guitar.

Thanks Tom. Super informative video. I just bought a Martin custom with an Adirondack top and Amazon rosewood. The Amazon rosewood piece I was able to pick was just too stunning to ignore.

Fantastic wood. For me, in the same league of Cocobolo and Madagascar Rosewood....

Thought you were taking some time out Tom... what happened? Good to have you back. Love the tap-tone - nice variety of tones from the AR. The coloration with the darker streaks really works! I reckon this set will need a top that can reign it in a little... perhaps a sinker redwood? Anyways... hope you got a bit of down-time over the weekend - those guitars won’t build themselves... lol :) K.

The best tonewood after brazilian rosewood.

I would love to hear about Honduran Rosewood. Particularly how it might compare to Amazon or Madagascar as B&S tonewoods. Thanks, John (Sands guitar build scheduled for 2025) Gig Harbor, WA

Wow! This has got to be better than a lot of the Brazilian that's out there.

any comments or experience about using the light coloured sap in the middle? Or would you mostly leave it out?
  • 🔵 I own guitars made from all the differing rosewoods commonly known , and very honestly , it makes little to no difference ; the big difference is the Builder and what they have achieved on an individual build (for the most part) ; not a certain species of tonewood ❕🆘 🔵 I would certainly say and agree that differing species of tonewood have more or less esthetic and market appeal for the owner /buyer❕

I have a Martin CS-Bluegrass-2016 with Guatemalan rosewood back and sides. It has some beautiful coloring like your Amazon rosewood does. Martin doesn't say which Dalbergia it is, but they do say that they harvest it from a special valley in Nicaragua. What does your Amazon rosewood smell like?
  • When you will made a video about Honduras rosewood Dalbergia stevensoniii or/and Dalbergia melanoxylon?

I just bought a Martin HD-35 and can't seem to find where to register the warranty. The Martin website only seems to accept addresses inside the USA and Canada. Any idea how you register the warranty if you live in Europe anyone?

I got some Brazilian rosewood for you. It'll cost you a pretty penny though.

So, would you build your own guitar using Amazon, Brazilian or Madagascan Rosewood, Tom? For maximum marks you must give your reasons..!
