  • The fact that she waited 12 years in the book, she fell in love at 16 and he finally noticed her when she was 28.šŸ˜šŸ˜

I ship Pen with Debbling. Debblingā€™s a lord. Colinā€™s just a third son. Debbling sounds kind and immediately saw her for all her beauty, wit, and glory.
  • It was painful to watch. Everyone in her life took her for granted, and treated her as less than and insignificant, it was sad šŸ˜”

Now let's be fair for a minute here, Colin never mislead Penelope to believe that she was anything else other than a good friend and that he values that friendship. You all realize they met really young, and Penelope developped a crush on him in her teens, and like anyone with a massive crush, you're hoping that the person will notice you beyond the title of just a good friend. I don't think Colin would have been ready for Penelope before now, he needed to get to a place of maturity to finally see a woman in Penelope and not just a good friend .

Colin doesnā€™t see Penelope in the same way Eloise doesnā€™t. They essentially use her for her friendship with no reciprocation.

I know it may seems childish but I just want a scene where Pen tells Colin: "You do not count you are just a friend" when she is looking for a suitor.
  • This is why I am currently team lord Debling. He sees her as beautiful from the beginning and people deserve to be with someone who is attracted to them.

Colin seems to be a scapegoat for people to project unrequited crushes on. He is not obligated to return or notice Penelope's crush. He has been cordial and friendly as appropriate for a friend. He's shown her more attention than the rest of the ton, conversing, dancing and looking into her uncle's scam. That part of the fandom is itching to see him suffer is cruel.
  • I had never noticed that- what a parallel! He thinks he is feeding a duck when he has a true swan in front of him

Never get with a guy that overlooks you, disparages you to his buddiesā€¦ itā€™s the worst loving a guy that just isnā€™t into you. Even if they do get together she will always feel more strongly than he does.

Colin is not obligated to return her feelings. He could have a little more awareness to realize her feelings and treat those feelings with more sensitivity, but he is also a bit immature still to this point in the series. He is not a bad person for regarding her as a close friend rather than a prospective partner if he does not return her feelings. If Penelope is tired of hoping he will return her feelings, it's on her to be honest with him about how their interactions affect her and put boundaries in place to protect herself. You don't get involuntarily friend-zoned; you allow yourself to be and remain there unless you make the decision to move on.

Poor penšŸ˜ in real life you wouldve been with lord debling

I don't think Anthony saw Pen and Colin's special friendship either. He was using Pen and Colin as an example of how dancing doesn't mean anything. So to him Daphne and Simon dancing didn't mean anything since Pen and Colin danced together too and they aren't anything. lol. So he definitely didn't see anything between Pen and Colin. I would like to see what he thinks about Pen and Colin in this third season. :)

As sad as it is, it's not really that sad. Penelope is a neglected person from her parents. That's even more sad and that's probably the reason why she's held on to her crush from calling for so long. The sad part is her being a wallflower because she never got proper love and attention from her mother. Colin not liking her is more of a side thing because he's not required to love her just because she likes him. Even in our fantasy world.

I really donā€™t like how many villainize Colin for not noticing Penelope right away. I think they probably met when he was too young to really think of her in a romantic light, so she became his friend. And Penelope never told Colin she likes him, so why would he ever think she likes him. She has always been kind to him, and I do think he took her a little for granted. He never intentionally meant to hurt her. Sometimes people need a little wake up call to see what is in front of them. That is was this whole season is about, for both to see each other differently and have reached a maturity where they can be together.
  • I think a lot of us have been in this boat, clinging to hope that someone we have a crush on will notice us. In real life, IMO, it's better to move on to someone who actually notices you right away, appreciates you and gets you. You'll be much happier with that abundant love than clinging to scraps that someone throws to you as they obliviously string you along.
  • @SThom33
That feeding the ducks scene is a great metaphor for Pen that season! He's out there, just thinking he's with an ugly duckling, not even trying to see that really she's a beautiful swan. Well done.
  • @doeheart7118
Colin doesnā€™t deserve pen at this point heā€™s going to have to do more the grovel for this one cause wtf why are all the bridgertons so bad at seeing their true love in front of their faces
  • Colin is allowed to not like Penelope back. Nobody is entitled to another person's romantic feelings. If a man made this video he would be exhibiting incel behavior.
