Before he created "ER" Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, Twister) adapted and directed (his debut behind the camera) this chiller from Robin Cook's best-seller about a sinister medical conspiracy. Genevieve Bujold, Michael Douglas and Richard Widmark star as doctors caught in its web.

  • Creepy AF. Still remember having nightmares as a kid seeing this.
  • One of the best movies ever. Genevieve (Bujold), and Michael (Douglas) are absolutely fantastic, and there's even an appearance by a pre-Magnum P.I. Tom Selleck in the film (it's brief, but he's clearly there). Great film, highly recommended. 😎

I was actually in a coma for a month. I saw things I cant descibe even now. I call it a "dummy state" because I heard the outside world but couldn't respond. In retrospect it was the best damn sleep I ever had...💤💤

The barber who cuts their hair loves the job. No one complains and they always lie still.

I know I'm 5 years late to point out this error in the video description, but this was not Crichton's first film as a director, it was actually his 3rd (or second if you only count theatrical releases).

The cinematography in this film is quite interesting and futuristic for that period in the late 1970's through natural, bokeh and fluorescent lighting that contrast with moody diffused lighting in a tertiary colour palette of blue-green, red-blue, yellow-orange as mystery deepens and characters anxiety is explored in a modern maze-like office skyscraper trappings and futuristic buildings in significant low diffused lighting to express feelings of claustrophobia and verge of losing consciousness.
