  • Much Respect for Grace Van Dien for her decision to prioritize streaming. The amount of shit they do the child actors is just horrible.
  • @Naokarma
I'm honestly just surprised that its taken until now for people to realize how horrible Hollywood is. This has been a problem for decades.

People get mad at actors or actresses for speaking out 15-20 years after but don’t realize they waited until they had enough power to have their voice heard and have it not ruin their lives. Now imagine how many young actors like her never become AAA actors with power and just quietly leave the industry or even if they don’t never reach the level of prominence to be able to speak out against it
  • And this happened to Grace, who’s the daughter of Casper van Dien (lead from Starship Troopers, and some other movies over the years). Imagine what happens to a complete rookie, with no contacts, no power in Hollywood-land at all.
  • I was a theatre major last year and all of acting profs talked VERY highly of Charlie's role in The Hunger Games, truly an inspiration to us all and a master of his craft <3

Fun fact, at the Oscars that year, Jennifer Lawrence stood up in her chair and yelled "Justice for Moist" during the Best Actor award. The Hollywood elite tried to scrub that moment, but the real ones remember.
  • Anyone being surprised that so many actors choose indie projects over AAA movies (like Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson for example) should open their damn eyes. That's the reason. They want to focus on their craft and not shady inside politics.

I think the best example of how awful Hollywood can be is Dan Schneider. He preyed upon children and young teens for years, worse than what Disney puts their child/teen actors through. I'm genuinely happy to hear Grace is focusing on a hobby that's healthy and fun for her. Getting to chat with fans while playing your favorite game sounds like a nice way to spend your time rather than getting creeped on by predators.

Charlie is so humble. Always downplaying his massive acting role in the Hunger Games. What a great guy.
  • @johnr797
So humble he didn't even feel comfortable mentioning his tour-de-force role as Officer Greg. We remember, Charlie.
  • I’ll tell you a short story.. I tried to get into modeling when I was 13. My mom found an agent and took me. He asked if he could have the room with me without my mom and my mom left! He started immediately acting creepy to me. He touched me and was telling me if I didn’t do it then I wouldn’t be a model. It was gross. I stopped after that.
  • Corey Feldman has tried to tell people for years about the creepy stuff that goes on behind the scenes in Hollywood and people ridicule him for it. It's like a huge open secret. I think a lot of people in powerful positions don't want to do anything about it.
  • In normal labor standards, an employer who sexually propositions their employee would be fired for sexual harassment. The fact that Hollywood gets away with this daily even post-Weinstein just makes me physically sick. Like does fame make people into disgusting creeps or were they always creeps who just so happened to receive the power to exert these desires onto powerless victims?
  • She killed it in her scenes too. So sad she doesn't feel safe enough to pursue her dreams... So disgusting...
  • I used to do acting, and as soon as I started reaching the professional level I stopped. The first professional project I was in (a big role with a budget of over a million) the director was touching me and holding on to my arms during rehearsals in the same room as all of the other performers. Did the other actors give a fuck? No, they just want to be successful, because thats what it takes. I still work in the industry, just not as a performer anymore, and as a rule I don't trust anyone until I really know them, I make it clear that nobody fucks with or disrespects me, and remember that narcissist are very real. If you speak out about everything, you will very quickly be ganged up on by NPCs who just want to please people in the industry, so I have to be very careful with the battles I choose. Even then, I've had people say I have a 'superhero complex' or whatever kind of personal attack they can think of because of this (I've learned that personal attacks and rumour spreading are their primary weapon as it requires no evidence and it doesn't even have to be true). Fuck the film and television industry, and yes, it is as bad as you think.

Grace father is highly respected in Sci fi fantasy and horror as an actor. And not even he could protect her from that ugliness of the industry. Wish the best for her and I support her limitations on her career choices.
  • After learning about what happened to Jennette McCurdy a.k.a Sam from ICarly and she decided to retire from acting for good, I can understand why Hollywood is a dangerous place.
  • We need more exposure of Hollywood. Not enough people know what goes on behind closed doors
  • Dude you could see and feel the emotional trauma in her eyes when she brought it up. Pretty heart breaking shit man.
