This was a nice relaxer story. Thanks for sharing

Yeah I've found with ponytails you have to tie them loosely and rotate where you put them from day to day. Another alternative is tying it up with a hair stick or a hair fork. As long as you don't use too much tension, it can be a much better option and you can wear a lot of different styles.

I usually wash my hair every two weeks with shampoo and a deep condition. Now, if my hair needs washing in between those two weeks, I do a cowash. I'm going to be doing a video very soon on my hair regimen and I will go into more details. Don't forget to subscribe, so you can get an update on my latest videos. Thanks for stopping by! :)

nice job...I have begun to stretch my relaxers I am at 4.5 months post  as of today...I am so happy because I never stretched this long hell after watching all these videos and reading about hair care I wanted more healthier hair. Currently my hair is grazing collar bone....my hair is much thicker and I already see a huge difference it is growing good...I want to stretch more and see how my hair holds ups...I moisturize and seal just about everyday, but sometimes every other day. Your video keeps me on my toes, thanks girl.
  • I am trying to get to BSL too!!! your video is inspirational though! shows that with patience relax hair can grow! :)
  • @SincerelyKell
You're absolutely welcome. All the best on your hair goals. Stretching your perms to 2-3 times per year is an excellent move. You can do it!! :)

I LOVE YOUR VIDEO! MY HHJ HAIRMATE! I'm really shocked because I had the same problem as you did in 2010: relaxing, colouring, dry, damaged, brittle and breakage! Even more I did cut my hair same as your starting length and whats even more interesting that I started my hhj in December 2010!!! Yeah, I was also BSL, but I recently on 23rd July 2014 had to do my yearly trim so I'm only about an inch away far from BSL and hoping by the end of this year I gain 2 more inches :D  Keep up the good work, i'll be watching your progress all the time :D

I don't self relax, so when I do go get a perm my beautician uses Nairobi cream relaxer. She knows I am on a hair journey and uses one that isn't going to be too harsh on my hair. I love it!
  • @KylaB30
Thanks for sharing! Love the progress.
  • @SimpleLifeofMJ
love this vid :D very inspirational! your hair has come such a long way xo
  • @SincerelyKell
Thank you!! Yes, if you can stretch your perms to two or 3 times per year that would be awesome. It's worth it!!
  • @SincerelyKell
Thank you!! Yes, I completely understand. I now where my hair down a lot and if it's gotta be up I try and use a clamp or bobby pins to pin it up. However, on occasion you will catch me with my 'ouchless" band wrapped around my strands. Ohhhh the struggle. Lol!! If you come up with any other ideas, please share. I'd love to know more alternatives.
  • thanks for the video. so nice to see more vids on relaxed hair journeys. my goal is to stretch to 2-3 perms per year.
  • @tatl9740

I'm currently at BSL. Trying to get to mid-back length. I work at a daycare with very active toddlers, so ponytails are my go-to style. I'm looking for protective styles that will hold up for a few days.
