PS4 Turns On Then Off Troubleshooting - How to Fix

does anyone else's ps4 power on with the blue light and you can hear the fan start up, but after 7 or so seconds, it shuts down

knowing me i have the unfixable solution

I tired cleaning my PS4 and then this started happening and now I feel like I lost a part of myself ~ ~ “Update” i had fixed my ps4 a long time ago although if i played any games it would immediately start heating up so I didn’t use it at all until the ps5 came out I transferred all my games over and data and now i have returned to console but over those terrible days i had gotten a pc and xbox over those 8 months

For anyone else who is reading these comments, please remember to buy with extreme caution when you are looking to buy broken consoles off of Ebay. At the very least buy only the ones that have the warranty stickers in tact. -Full Disclosure: We actually sell some of our broken consoles on Ebay but we say exactly what has been done to them so any potential buyers know exactly the risk they are taking.

I was so worried about it being an APU issue. But, when you showed the bad power supply, it acted EXACTLY the way mine is. I've had mine since launch so, I'm definitely relieved that it's probably the power supply

I have had my PS4 for almost 2 years. It turns on for a moment the fan starts to kick on then it immediately shuts its self off. If I hold the button attempting to see if it will enter safe mode, it will not, it will just shut off.

For those with Blue Light Of Death: If it doesn't power on or goes on for a moment (but doesn't turn on the fan) and then dies you most likely have a power supply issue. If your light pulses you can try the added washer fix on the diamond shape clamp (youtube it) and maybe apply new thermal paste. If it turns on and off by itself but doesn't respond when you hit power, then it could be bad power supply or faulty solder joint on the chip. These worked for me most of the time but when they don't then chances are the chip needs to reballed properly. Good luck everyone! Oh and make sure to clean your console from dust with a soft bristle toothbrush (dollar store or wherever) or compressed air can. Not truly necessary but definitely helps prolong the console's life.

Kenneth Edwards - If it doesn't do anything at all when you try to turn it on (not lights, no noise, etc.) then it's likely that your power supply is bad. If you live in an area with cockroaches then they likely caused your power supply to go bad.

Mine turns on for a good 30 minutes then turns of randomly

Make a claim with Sony and make them give you another one its not fair we give them our hard earned money and in return we get a Faulty Ps4 Smdh

Ernest Franz - This is most likely a problem with faulty connections between the APU and the motherboard. This is common with consoles that have been dropped or fall. It's not likely a power supply problem.  If it's still under warranty they may fix it for you but I'm not sure.

It's great to see that you gave out a neat video of the PS4 console that turns on and right back off again. I never experienced that problem before..... but my friend's PS4 was having the problem the other day that he must have dropped his console from a 5 ft height. Normally the PS4 would have a 50/50 chance of either checking on safe mode or that the unit would fail to boot. It turns out that his console turned on and that the beam of blue light went through the PS4 (and then it suddenly disappears). I would probably guess that the PS4 would have something to deal with a faulty power supply.

My ps4 will turn on for like 5 minutes then the screen will start flickering for like 3 seconds then it turns off. But it seems like the longer I leave my ps4 unplugged the longer I get to play.

Guys, if you cleaned your PS4 and have a problem getting the PS4 to turn on or it turns on then off, you may have put the power supply back in wrong. Make sure the two long metal pieces are straight and not bent to where it reaches the power brick. Not placing it back in correctly also may make it hard to put the other plastic back on and difficult to put the screws back in the PS4. Went through this myself. Hopes that's the case and you too can save your money.
