Kind of crazy to believe she doesn't speak Japanese. There are a lot of Japanese learners that would love to be able to pronounce words with such clarity. Even Japanese people say that her pronunciation is more clear and natural than native speakers.

数年前に「日本のシティーポップが海外で人気を博している」というニュースでこのrainychさんの事を知って、その流れの中でこのカバー曲を聴いたので、今日の今日まで自分の知らないシティーポップのカバーだと誤解していた。洋楽の日本語カバーだったなんて驚きだ。確かに曲のサビ以外は微妙に邦楽の歌詞っぽくないけど、それは単に外国人女性が歌っているから生じる「可愛らしい英語訛りの日本語」だからなのかと思ってた。そしてサビの日本語のチョイスはあまりにも自然すぎて、rainychさんの歌声の素晴らしさと合わさって今でも私には「80年代の懐かしい日本のラブソング」の様に感じられる。
