  • Are you expecting a baby soon?! Share your due month below! 🥰 If you're a veteran mum watching, please feel free to share any newborn tips I may have missed as well -- I'm sure everyone will love to read them!!
  • this may be a hot take, but i loved the newborn phase. everyone told me id struggle and hate it and i repeatedly told people no, i love this. i know not everyone is as lucky as i am to have a healthy delivery and a loving husband but man, now that i have a 3 month old im so sad the newborn phase is over. again, i know im very blessed but i just want other moms to know that sometimes you will LOVE the newborn stage
  • One thing i learnt was that if you're breast feeding, empty your bladder forst as this allows full contraction of your uterus and a fuller "milk drop" , and number 2 ..is that when that umbilical cord is starting to come off and looks a bit manky,or straight after it does come off, drip breastmilk into the open part and it honestly clears it up in no time at all, just about everything is fixed by leaving breastmilk on it 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️
  • My tip for baby boy diapers; open the diaper and then cover again for about 10 seconds. The cool air often stimulated him to pee, and you can catch it before putting the new diaper on!
  • Something that was so helpful for me (having our master on the 2nd floor) was having a mini fridge in our bedroom full of waters and other hydrating drinks and I kept some easy, quick snacks on top of the mini fridge. This was so helpful for my recovery. Also if you plan to breastfeed, it is so worth it to invest in a lactation consultant.

This is so helpful I want to cry. I'm 37 weeks and had no idea about sooo many of these things. Thank you SO much.

Side lying nursing was a game changer for me and I didn’t master it until my third, it was wonderful for my back, for my baby and for my milk supply!

I dont care how tired or sleep deprived I am but I loved every second of the newborn stage. My newborn will be a month old next week. ❤ I know your newborn needs to feed every 3 to 4 hours but its not necessary to wake your baby up in the middle of the night for feeding if your baby is progressing normally and is not underweight. When you newborn sleeps through the night for a good 6 hour.. let the baby sleep because it teaches them night time sleep. My newborn started sleeping through the night towards the end of the second week and its been blissful. He sleeps at 11 at night and wakes up at 5 for feeding and sleeps again and wakes up at 7 or 8 for the next feeding. Its like that for my first 2 kids as well. They all sleep through the night. The hakaa breast suction is the best. Cheap and easy ❤
  • Thank you, definitely need more moms sharing stuff like this. Most of the people that have talked to me about early motherhood seeing me pregnant have complained and projected fear and focused on struggles. So thank you.❤
  • Mom to 2 under 2 here! My tip is to get knee high socks for the newborn stage. Those tiny little socks never stay on, but I would sometimes put my toddler's cute Burt's Bees cable knit socks on my newborn and pull them all the way up. They stay way better!
  • The newborn stage is the best! The first week is the most magical time of life! They just grow out of that super cute little self so so quick and you are left missing that tiny human forever! I keep looking at my babies newborn photos and almost feel grief from how bad I miss them at that time! Every stage is awesome but man I miss the newborn stage

Wake windows are everything. When my babies were newborns I was very resistant to track wake windows because it was yet another mental task to juggle and I thought it was a corner I could cut without dire consequences. But we inevitably ran into SERIOUS over tiredness problems when I didn’t at least try to be aware of sleep timing. More mental energy in the moment; but much less stress overall.
  • My baby is now 6 months old and aside from the first weeks of getting the hang of breastfeeding - and in general how to take care of a baby - I can honestly say I loved the newborn stage. I was lucky enough that he's a mellow little dude and although we had a hospital stint due to a urinary tract infection at 8 weeks we enjoyed the getting to know each other phase. BTW I work from home in editing and translating and never stopped doing it - just wore him in my Ergobaby.
