What Happened to the 4 QBs Drafted Before Jalen Hurts?

Publicado 2023-07-22
Jalen Hurts, a standout quarterback, faced setbacks early in his career despite impressive performances at the University of Alabama. 4 QBs were drafted ahead of him. He was benched during a crucial game, which led him to transfer to Oklahoma and prove himself. In the 2020 NFL Draft, four quarterbacks were chosen ahead of him. Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, and Jordan Love were all selected before Hurts. However, since then, Hurts has shown exceptional talent, leading his team to the Super Bowl in just his third year. Many teams passed on him, opting for other positions, but the Philadelphia Eagles eventually selected him, and he has proven to be a game-changer, now regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in the league. His rise to stardom was unexpected, but he has demonstrated his abilities and surpassed all expectations.

Why does NOBODY talk about how the following year when tua got injured in the championship hurts stepped in and won them the game, THEN transferred to Oklahoma

It’s so wild to me how Burrow, Herbert, Tua, and Hurts have all greatly established themselves in the league to this point and we’re just now going to see what Love can do despite them all being from the same class.

I'd like to mention that Hurts graduated from Alabama in his third year and then enrolled at Oklahoma for post-graduate work. Somehow to me that's different than simply transferring to another college to play football because you're no longer the starter. I am happy for Hurts because of the way he handled the situation at Alabama; he didn't whine or complain or threaten. Lots of people doubted whether he could really be a passing threat in the NFL, but he has proven them wrong. Well, for the most part.

As soon as I saw him dominate an 8-1 New Orleans team in his first full game during a season where we were 2-6-1 at the time, I knew we had a franchise QB. Then we got him his man AJ, Hurts worked hard at his deep ball and accuracy, and BAM. Fly Eagles Fly.

I hate that he said Tua is Jalen's biggest rival, they're friends, Jalen was never upset that Tua got the starting job. I hate the narrative that Jalen left because he hated us, he left to better his career, he loves Alabama and his former Bama teammates

If Tua stays healthy and Love is just good enough. That 2020 QB Class will be one of the best all time.

It’s rare to have so many QB’s delivering in the NFL from 1 draft. Beautiful!

Hurts was always working to get better. You saw when he went to Oklahoma he improved in every way. And his work ethic is second to none. I always said I didn't know what his ceiling was, but he was going to get to it. He just keeps working and learning. Everyone seems to love him as a teammate too. He wouldn't be successful on every team those first couple seasons. He's in the perfect place. Tua seems like a good dude too, I really hope he's okay after those severe concussions.
  • I love the story of JH because is such a humble person and still so eager and willing to learn.

Thank you to all the 31 teams that passed on him!! I know i highly questioned it when the pick was made but truly im grateful he's on our squad. Go Birds!!

Hurts is literally the embodiment of what you need to be to successful as a philly athlete.

When he was drafted, I thought it was a solid value pick. A number 2 QB is rated 7th most valuable player on the Eagles (if I recall that stat correctly, it's something like that), and Nick Foles provedit. He was a good value pick in the second round, and that was before he grew into what he is now. Now he's a GREAT value pick.

When we drafted Hurts I was pleasantly shocked. I liked him in college and had no idea we were even looking at him, so glad we got him! First Eagles Jersey I got since Shady McCoy

This class may go down is one of the most legendary qb classes of all time…..😱
  • @wraynephew6838
I am not sold on Hurts. Let me see him do it again this year.
  • @nd9814
I was one of the few Eagles fans that was HYPED when we drafted him. I remember loving how he handled being benched in National title game. You gotta be mentally tough to play in Philly. I knew this kid had it. Plus we had won a Super Bowl with a backup quarterback on 2-3 years prior, so it was a highly valued position.
