On a lush, green uninhabited island in Skagit Bay, this forgotten military fort sits hidden from view of passing boats. It’s name is Goat Island, and the fort was home to Battery Harrison, part of the harbour defences for Puget Sound, built over 100 years ago. Follow me and my dog Nina as we paddle out and visit this interesting spot and relive its history. It is a day spent in wonder, curiosity, and quiet nature, as well as a few sonic booms from the air force jets overhead. Thanks for watching!

That's very cool! It's so cute how Nina is as excited to be exploring as you are 😊

Thanks. We visited a disappearing gun emplacement down under while visiting the Albatross protected area, complete with the gun and roof. It was well maintained and had a guided tour, partly due to the Albatross. I didn't know there were other such "disappearing" emplacements in the world. I like how quickly nature is taking over the site, judging by the tree growing on top of one of the structres.
  • That’s pretty cool , I love history like this ! In fact this is one fort I did not know about , no even the locals talked about it when I was at La Conner ! Keep finding them for us to enjoy , well done !

Just awesome, Luke! It's inspiring to watch you go to these historical places and makes me want to visit and explore relics from the past like this😁 Get yourself some hunting ear plugs and put them in your pack from now on. I'm going to put some in my pack now too. You just never know when you're going to need them, it seems.

Love this area of WA, always wanted to check out the island, there are some good beaches hidden in the bay back there too

I would have to be very active if I found a place that served those cinnamon buns... Dang it man... and the rest of the video was great too :) After I watched the bun 30 seconds about 6 times :P Your vids are always well scripted, edited and the videography is amazing thank you for allowing me to live vicariously with you..

The fighter jets were seeing & hearing were from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island ..

NAS Whidvey can at times be a very busy base that at times is doing work ups in prep to going out on one of thx carriers. Knew this was here but have never made the trip out and now don't need to.

Too bad about the damage from the graffiti vandals. During low tide, you can walk to the island.
