Revealing the Secrets of Graham Barton's Versatile Game

Published 2024-02-28
Graham Barton is a Offensive lineman coming out of duke who was one of the more versatile athletes coming out of this draft class. Having the ability to play Left Tackle, guard, and possibly center when he gets to the NFL. There are things he needs to work on but being a player that can play multiple positions, that can make a player extremely valuable for any team in the league. #dallascowboys #nfldraft #cowboys #nfl #grahambarton #nfl #nfldraftprospects #nflfilm #all22film #all22

Great job!! I like Barton, hes definitely more confident at the G spot. You can tell that hes got a powerful first step on power runs. Can dip his head a bit at POA which can be coached up. Takes some false steps at times that gets him not in the greatest positions, especially at the OT spot in pass pro. With more stronger inside players the short arm technique can eat him up. I do think he would be a great fit in Dallas though. Great breakdown!!! Have been telling peeps about your channel!!!

GREAT call on the play about keeping his hands inside I think against Clemson(? #7) as well! That was a play that all the networks used as an example of him winning a rep yet you correctly pointed out that may be a penalty call in the NFL. As far as his projection to OC he played C as an 18yo freshman in & played very well, which is why people, including the Bucs FO, are so comfortable projecting him there in the NFL. The Bucs, especially GM Jason Licht, Love to take athletic OT's from small schools & move them inside. They've successfully done so w/ Ali Marpet (they think of Barton as Marpet 2.0, which you can see why from his tape), Alex Cappa, Cody Mauch (He'll be in the weight room with Luke "The Lifter" Goedeke, & Tristan Wirfs this off-season. Mauch's 2nd year outlook is much better than what he showed as a rookie. Even Marpet struggled some making the move to the IOL & the NFL) & (w/ much less success & was a reach) even Robert Hainsey, who Barton will be supplanting at OC. They were all college OT's, mostly from Div-III too in Mauch, Marpet, and Cappa! Thanks for the breakdown. Keep up the good work! (I'd recommend against putting a slideshow w/o commentary in the middle of a breakdown though, bc I thought the video was over & you had good stuff after it. It's ok to do, although I wouldn't, but at least tell people what you're doing, bc you even had the "ending" music. I only say this, bc your video is good enough to make it with a little more work. I'm now a new subscriber, which I don't do often, or lightly! HIT THE LIKE BUTTON PPL! You heard the man!)

Definitely feel like hes a guard in the league, not a tackle. And he needs some work on his technique. But his drive and physicality in top notch. Curious to see what his draft stock looks like.

Oh and I'd Love to hear your thoughts on the 'Boys trading down only to watch Graham Barton be taken by my Bucs, then selecting Jordan Morgan, who seems solid at OT, but I'd have personally gone with the upside of a Guyton over Morgan. Although I guess you could say that it is Jones showing they actually ARE in "win now" mode! Too bad it is the first move all off-season where the Cowboys FO actually showed they were in "win now" mode!! LOL

  • On thag play where he fell it looked like he took his eyes off of the rusher to see what the linebacker was doing. Also a fake punch would have probably not allowed the defnder to get hamds on him first. I think he could come in and start at center for us but could also be a future left tackle with some more technique refinement.
  • @Haleywould
That rep you showed he lost bc he lost the leverage battle by standing way too high and was practically back on his heels. That is easily corrected in the NFL, especially as he will be playing OC, possibly OG depending on who the Bucs take the rest of the draft and how things shake out in training camp.
  • @coganblaster
Thanks JC. I like Barton's physicality, but don't think he's an OT. The team needs one in the first 2 rounds. By the time they double back for an IOL, he'll be gone.

Cowboys never draft players from Duke. Never!
  • @Capncomeback2023
He definitely will not be a Tackle, he’s going to play Guard or Center. I read he’s smart and I can see how athletic he is. But for me, he spends too much time on his ass. I like either a real C in the Draft or sign one in FA.
