I really like how you outlined your shadows before hatching. As a beginner, it is really easy to fall into automatic traps. Drawing is a practice that you really do have to use your brain for, and figuring out where you want to place your shadows before actually placing them is one of obvious things which only seem so in hindsight.

Always have liked subtleties like the light reflection onto the bottom of the ball. It's things like that that we miss, which make art look more realistic, but intimidating to try ourselves. It's all practice and learning and almost anyone can do it if they want to.

After all of these years I have never found an as good tutorial for shading, now I just need to understand the workflow and where to start in an image and end in an image to adjust
