On paper the recently announced Nikon Z6III is a seriously impressive camera. But, with the likes of the Sony A7IV, Canon R6II and Panasonic Lumix S5II as close competition, is it really able to compete?

I've never understood people's problem with the previous Z6/Z7 models. Their only disadvantage is their bad subject detection. The autofocus itself, which is not the same thing as subject detection (people always mix that up), is quite fast. Apart from that, great image quality, great colour science, great ergonomics, excellent lenses. And they have always been a bit to a lot cheaper than the equivalent models of Canon and Sony. A used Z6 is the best you can get for 700-800€ (whatever that is in the UK/US). However, if someone is considering buying a Z6iii, I would highly recommend the Z7ii instead, if you don't need better subject detection and video.

I've had mine two weeks and it is a very capable camera, I'm loving it!

The one thing that I MUST change in My Nikon Z cameras is,, in the Z6III,,, "f7 RELEASE BUTTON TO USE DIAL" ""TURN IT ON"" then (WHEN YOU TOUCH ANY '"FN"BUTTON,, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HOLD IT DOWN TILL YOU ARE DONE) push the "FN" button, change the settings then touch any button to finish the change!!!!!!!!!!! TRY IT, YOU MAY THANK ME :) :) :) "Z8,,, f6"
  • CF express B is really where cameras should be. Durable, easy to handle and fast.
  • @alexshdvideo
Why are you still using premier?????? I left premier 10+ years ago. Though apparently it’s catching up to resolve.
  • @ZupZone
I have taken some of my best photos with the first Z6. I can't understand why so many speak poorly of the camera. The operation is intuitive, and the results have always convinced me. I eventually switched systems because I find Sigma lenses so good. I miss my Z6; if I were in a better financial position, I would have kept the Z6 as a second camera. The fact is, when the Z6 was released, it was one of the best cameras on the market.
  • First I think. Good to see Nikon back to the Fight arena. !
  • @EricLouisYoung
The z6iii has a devastating flaw in the video exposure jumping. Once they fix it ill get one.

Plenty of quality CF express cards are cheaper than high-end SD cards.
  • @dipesh8836
Sony really seems underpowered now like the a7iv and a7siii are really outdated especially for the price
  • No A7RV or GH7-style tilt and flippy screen. That's a big fail. Let's push for this intil it becomes standard!
  • @kbarrett1844
It’s good to see Nikon with a competitive offering in the mid-priced space. The Z6III certainly bests the competitors in certain areas, but hardly worth jumping systems for. Different makes will continue to leapfrog each other with incremental improvements. We’re spoiled with choice. Pick one and be about your work.
  • @Hrishi1970
Awesome review. This could be the biggest upgrade to any lineup. We'll done #Nikon!
  • @alchapel
Cfexpress B cards are relatively affordable if not cheaper than comparable v90 cards with way higher read and write speeds
  • I shoot with and own many brands, and as a photographer first shooter, I have never had any issues with the Nikon mirrorless brand. I started into mirrorless when the Sony a7rII was released and picked up Nikon's Z6 when it was released. There was a noticeable acquisition speed difference between my Sony and Nikon bodies, but for photography, it always performed flawlessly for me in my portrait and nature work.
  • Agreed. Many people want the camera to do everything for them. Yes, the Z7ii auto focus is not as good as the Canon R5. Yes, the Z9 AF is slightly behind the Canon R3. Despite the shortcoming, the Z7ii will focus accurately if you set it up or select the right focus mode. The Z9 AF will continue to get better with firmware updates. Savvy?
  • @Stario1Up
I am SO TORN between getting this or the Z8. I dont really need the 45mp, but... DAMN its a oiece of work. That Z6III is everything I could use in a relatively compact amd more affordable package though.
  • Hi, I'm looking for a beginner's camera and I need your help, I need a camera that takes high quality photos, I don't care that much about the video and I also need it to be fast. Do you have any camera recommendations?
