It’s nearly 100 days to go until the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the Olympic flame has been lit.

The ceremony takes place in Greece’s ancient Olympia, where the first Olympic Games were held in 776 BC.

The torch will first travel 3,000 miles through Greece, before crossing the Mediterranean to France in May on the three-masted ship Belem. It then will travel through France and its overseas territories before arriving in Paris for the start of the games in July.

Dear BBC. You need a retractable banner for your news items.

Nice news banner blocking the actual important part of the picture.

One of the most important ceremonies in the history of the world. Wish we didn’t have a huge banner in the middle of it, it was still phenomenal to see though.

As a Greek I boast with pride and get electrified by this ceremony connecting our ancient roots with the modern era. The message is simple: Let peace in the world, even for a while and let’s compete each other and may the best win!! Good luck to the hosting city Paris and to all contestants!! Thank you for the honor!! Greetings from Athens Greece 🇬🇷

BBC's big banner was bad enough, but then you had the announcer yapping the whole time and doing a play-by-play on something that was very very obvious.

glad we got to see it all. thanks BBC for covering half of it up with a useless banner
  • @jwags24
Does your banner really need to be THAT big?
  • @Steve65065
Epic fail bbc with the banner and you didn't include subtitles so we could understand what she was saying. You should be banned from youtube for this.

Does no one at BBC see how annoying that red banner is? !!!

I love the Greek people, because no human race has contributed to the civilization of humanity than the Greek people. The Greek people didn't ask us anything for return of their immense contributions. Above all, Greek is poor country economically, but the people Greek never complained. I always would like to do something for Greek people. I will always love you until the day I die. Thank you the people of Greek for your wise contributions to humanity.
