The MetaVerse is garbage!! Facebook & games never quite mixed too well, but that's not for a lack of trying, and now they're blowing all this money on VR???

My mom was addicted to Farmville for so long but then one day I decided to set her up with Stardew Valley and she never looked back
  • Horrendous fact: Facebook tried to change their name to meta but a small company around Chicago was already using the name so Facebook offered them money, they said no, so Facebook decided to take the name then preceded to sue the company.
  • Mark Zuckerberg really did see that one Black mirror episode where you're punished for looking away from ads and then sympathized with the villains.
  • Just hearing the phrase, "Facebook losing money" gives me the warm fuzzies.

"You look like a guy who throws up" is an amazing insult that really took me off-guard
  • "You're probably 5 and you're probably named Riley" Made me laugh more than it should have. 🤣
  • @jasperjazzie
"who would get so obsessed over a virtual farm?" i say, having over 300 hours in stardew valley, lmao

the little kid calling billiam 'sir' and trying to guide him is so funny 😂
  • As someone named Riley, I did not expect to be bullied for my name by children in the Metaverse
  • If Mark Zuckerberg had a way to transmit ad right into our brains he would do it without a first thought.

Why is the MetaKids teaching Billiam how to play virtual Thor is actual so wholesome?? Until one of them dropped an f bomb.

Hearing those kids playing was simulataneously the most hilarious thing I've ever experienced and absolutely horrifying when I considered all the data being mined from kids who haven't gone through puberty yet In both cases, RIP Reily.

Oh my goddddd the work environment of zynga is actually terrifying…it crossed the line from “some cool perks” to “holy shit I think this is the plot of a black mirror episode”

I have a theory about Meta's awful avatars: I think it's intentional, to head off the possibility of becoming too 'internet.' It's supposed to be bland, like elevator music: Not exciting, but also incapable of upsetting anyone. Meta wants to attract people who are not immersed in online culture, and business users as well. You're not going to attract businesses to your platform if it's full of furries, waifus and lolis. So Meta goes with the mr-potato-head approach to avatar creation and greatly limits scripting. So that their metaverse may be a respectable location, where future businesses may one day hold major corporate events without fear of being swarmed by flying penises or raided by trolls wearing KKK costumes.
  • It’s funny how impossible it is to feel even a little sympathy for any person or corporation that loses double digit BILLIONS of dollars. Like… no one should have that much money in the first place, and literally the only way to amass it is by having no sympathy for humanity.

the silence after you told those kids you throw up all the time bc of anxiety was fucking BRUTAL

Those Metakids are next level funny. Anytime a YT person ventures into the abyss there is always one that never ceases to bring the entertainment.

I actually made a second facebook account just for games and would pile in all the update threads for the games and add my voice to the ADD ME DAILY PLAYER spam. I think that account got added by 300+ randos just for the games. Which also meant I now had access to all these people's personal data as they would be posting like normal about their kids and whatever where as my account was a fake name with an old school anime avatar and no information whatsoever, just game spam. It was kinda eye opening and weirded me out so bad to see just how easily people would let strangers see their kids baby photos just to get some farmville help....
