Hood was designed to flip all the way back to prevent wind on pipeline right of way from blowing it down and shape was to allow you to get your head under and around pipe groups in close quarters and as you mentioned, the elastic band tensioner is so you can reposition hood as you are welding in awkward positions which is a must for pipe welders. You can replace the Fibre Metal 1 CP headgear with 1 CR headgear if you want ratchet adjust and aluminum knobs will help but not completely stop the loosening problem. Great hoods and a timeless classic.

Loved the video man, keep it up! About the hardhat connection, you need to get the right gear and hardhat. You may have heard of weldtube, those guys sell a lot of welding stuff including the pipeliner, a flip front for it and the halo for it. If you buy the halo, then you can attach it to the hardhat. The hardhat that fits it is the fibre metal roughneck. That's the hardhat that fits this hood, with the halo. Cheers mate Simon

lmao your reviews are very entertaining.

You paid 130 Aussie bucks for that!?! Mate. No way. I thought it was expensive at 60 in the U.S. have someone from here send you this next time
  • You need a baseball cap style hardhat with the headgear in backwards (so the ratchet is on the bill side of of the hard hat) they they sell something called a “halo” that replaces your headgear and connects to the brim of your hard hat

You can get regular headgear for them I recommend getting new nobs from pipeliners cloud
  • Thanks for another great video! Sounds like a torrential downpour happening while recording holy shitballs!
  • You take the head band out and attach it to a hard hat. That is what I see alot of people do.

Cut an inch and a half out of the bottom of the hood and invest in a set of aluminum fasteners...Also put a dab of lok-tite on said fasteners :)

Yo o wish I could send you the mods I do to my hoods I cut 4.5cm off the bottom and 2 cm off the top ... The plastic with fiberglass reinforcement is tough enough to directly rivet a leather strip over the neck part
