Indeed, the way that kid version of Tifa smirks after her spin is very mischievous and deceptive - much like Sephiroth's smirk.

Fantastic video! I honestly didn't think about how some of those scenes were either a dream or a memory. The discussion at cosmo canyon would def fit this as the area is closely connected with the lifestream. Tifa's dream was def the outliner as it seemed different compared to the other characters. I wonder if that had anything to do with what happened in gongaga as well.
  • Is it just me, though, or has Tifa kinda ALWAYS been Cloud's hero, more than vice-versa, with the facts that she always looks out for him, always checking if he's okay, she's the crutch that has been helping Cloud to stand up since the Nibelheim incident ❤

It may be far fetched but I loooove the idea of young Cloud being like the suppressed part of Cloud here

Having watched all the trials while playing the game before, I thought her trial was the least interesting because the scenario was something I've seen before. But now, after watching your video, I am intrigued. And the scene where she's over her dad's body and she's saying the exact same lines she did 5 years ago, with her face half hidden, was chilling.

Dream is used as a means of comprehending a spiritual connection; Cloud with post-death Aerith, Tifa with Cloud's inner turmoil, Cloud and worlds within the black materia. But yes, worlds of memories, past present and future. Each exists and fades away. This is actually pretty good. That's definitely memory glitching. Interesting.

honestly, I was thinking Sephiroth was somehow choosing which memories were being used to test the party. The red mako was only shown with stagnant souls unable to return to the planet, such as the Gi Tribe, before that scene... but Tifa's test was especially tampered with. Good findings

7:24 Ahhhhh! and this isn't the only time Tifa gets the "Glitch" it also happens at the infamous Altar scene. Couple that with never showing the audience the scar, Doc Sheiran saying she got picked up by Shinra when they get to Corel, and the Tifa turning into Sephiroth scene from the OG you showed at the end....hoo boi, our girl may have Jenova cells... The 3rd entry cannot come soon enough-I NEED ANSWERS! I WANT THE TRUTH! and hopefully the truth will be easily handled and digest-able XD My big theory is that none of this is actually happening and is a continuation from the OG when Holy doesn't work.....until it melds with the lifestream. Followed by this big blinding flash and the zoom in of Aerith's face from the VERY beginning of the game...which you see again..at the beginning of remake :) tldr this is Holy's judgement...testing to see if man is worth saving or wiping out entirely and Seph is probably gunna use this to his advantage...it's why he wants Aerith to summon holy and reunite the worlds...."Good Aerith...Pray"
  • A small correction though, the "speakers" from 5:55 are also present in the real Nibelheim, I was wrong here. But that doesn't change things with the strange flower that is present in Cloud's memories and in Tifa trial only

Trial Tifa suspiciously acting in a "off" way similar to Ending Aerith has me intrigued

Wow, this is an amazing video! Yuffie's memory holograms reminded me of how Tifa saw her (and Cloud's) memories in chapter 9. Also, it's interesting how Tifa's trial doesn't look like her actual memories of the Promise night or the Nibel Incident, especially if you read totp. There's no stars, no Maru (Flaffy), no Zangan, not even other residents! While Aerith's memories are exactly the same as it was described in the book, if I remember correctly. And with other details that you pointed out, it all looks very sus🤔 If it's really Sephi creating an illusion, do you have any ideas why he would do that?
  • @theshenami
Don't mean to be "that guy", but the whole dream idea has so many FFX tie-ins! I would absolutely love it if the worlds from my two favorite FF games were canonically linked.

Maybe that's why Cloud didn't get a trial (at least not in the same way the others did); a piece of his consciousness is elsewhere? About Cloud and Tifa having connected consciousnesses or souls, or 'real' Cloud hitching a ride in her mind - all the Gongaga lifestream memories appear to be from Cloud's point of view, don't they? They're all looking over his shoulder, the water tower memory is focussed on what Tifa says, rather than what Cloud says (you'd think it'd be the other way around if it were Tifa remembering it). Is she seeing Cloud's memories rather than her own? Also the glitching at the end when Tifa seems to see Aerith both dead and alive - again, like she can see through Cloud's eyes

Really interesting theory and well thought out. Thanks, loved watching this.

These aren't memories or memories from the life stream the life stream. These are key moments in each character's life that caused the most despair. Sephiroth has a hand to play in all of these, like he says at the end of the game, despair is powerful and is what Sephiroth wants in order to grow more powerful. That is why he wants to merge worlds, to increase and double the despair with every world he merges. He is trying to break the characters by having them ALL relive thier most traumatic moments.

Wow! Your analysis is amazing. So many details to be discussed! The reunion flower on the post box creeps me out.
