C7 Z06 Corvette Intercooler Pump Cavitation & Shutdown

We found some odd temperature spikes while testing our cooling setup for C7 Z06 Corvettes. We set up a large water tank on a burner, with the pump plumbed through the entire engine and intercooler system to simulate an on-track environment in the shop.

We discovered heat was not an issue, but a cavitation problem. If the pump cavitates severely enough, it will shut down for three minutes.

WTF? Do they intend to redesign the pump?

It should only cavitate if air is in the circuit. So it needs to be purged to prevent this to happen.
