  • The best thing about your approach is you can get the essentials to get by and the upgrade in time as you see what works and what you need to upgrade
  • Funny story about spending a fortune on gear... We had scout backpacks. $70 to $100. At an event a guy had a $500 pack and was disappointed and felt ripped off because his pack wasn't as good as ours. Just a consideration, you don't have to start with every great gadget and a costly pack. I also had the bag in this video and it went on many trails for many years. Scout gear, military gear well they are made to take a beating as is some of the Trail goods from Walmart.

Just want to comment on how I truly appreciate the consistency and reliability of your Sunday videos. You have been Old Faithful to your schedule and I don't think you get as much credit as you should for your dedication to your channel and your viewers. Much respect Sir. Thank you!
  • Tea bags. Small, lightweight, and if you are already boiling the water to disinfect, just drop the teabag in at the end, and you get disinfected tea! Especially good if the water in question has a bad taste.
  • Loved the tarp setup with one tarp. Here in Texas, a straight stick like a politician is hard to find. 😅
  • @tpep2328
I love the no nonsense, no sugar coating " I bought two bottles because, I wanted two bottles." Makes me smile.
  • @bdp-racing
It’s a miracle! I finally got a notification from YouTube!!!
  • I enjoy these videos. They are informative and fun to try with my grandkids. Thank you.

If you're inventive you can get a pretty decent kit built at Walmart. I remember back in my 20's I used 3 stainless dog dishes for my cook kit.
  • @OGbrick420
your commitment to do this each and every week is a really great thing to all of us wanting to learn. Thanks for the consistent videos!
  • @Gryphon_Hawke
Up until this week, I used an 8x10 poly tarp much like you showed. Never thought about the Y branch. Now I am using a bushcraft spain oilskin tarp. Buy once cry once. Always get some great ideas from you. Thanks for that.

We used the hook & fork branches during tree work all the time, especially while land clearing. You make a good 10-15 foot branch, 1 hook 1 fork. Cut the base of all the pricker bushes, ball it up & hook it. Drag it to the chipper, unhook & use the fork to push it in. If the hook or the fork gets pulled into the chipper it's no problem, just make another. Works awesome, never even have to touch the thorns.
  • Yo e comprado mi equipo en walmart y tienda militar de bayamon P.R. gracias por sus consejos.
  • Old order of the arrow books from the boyscouts can provide all this for approximately $3. All this equipment means nothing if you are bitten by a snake, spider, scorpion, attacked by wolves, bears, or the blood sucking insects.
  • @insomniacway
I really like the new format of multi part videos, giving a really thorough, in depth review of items in one vid, and putting them into action in the next.
  • Thanks for another great video. One thing most people seem to misunderstand or are afraid of is cost of getting gear. This helps show it doesn't take a lot to get a good starting pack. You can always upgrade as you go.
  • I am a regular thru-hiker of the “ozark trail”. It has everything you need and nothing you don’t. Good enough stuff….cheap.👍🏻

I want to see more of Pathfinder kit cup stove and bottle. I have them as my daily carry
