As a funeral director I have seen Greek Orthodox funeral services with chanting and it’s beautiful. It’s the closest I’ll be allowed to get to something like this.

Bob Simon, the brilliant journalist, was killed in a car crash in 2015 here in NYC. A tremendous, impossible loss to journalism, 60 Minutes and all his fans, and of course, his family. My heart goes out to them. Bob Simon, gone way too soon. We’ll never forgot your exquisite work.

I've read and been told a lot about Mt. Athos, but this is the first time I've actually seen and heard it. Beautifully done - thank you!
  • A Blessed 10 years for this wonderful documentary on the Holy Mountain, and Memory Eternal to Bob Simon.

Christians around the world are so lucky to have these devout Monks of Mt Athos giving their lives in the praise and veneration of God and Jesus Christ. We need to thank them, their prayers are the world's blessing in my opinion 🙏. God keep them safe and sustained..

These guys are living their dream and i'm happy for them
  • I have much respect for these guys. It takes so much to give yourself to God like that. Their devotion is amazing.
  • I have been to Northern Greece twice to visit friends. I could see the Mt. Athos location from the house. This area is truly an awesome area. I would go on prayer walks. Paul the Apostle was imprisoned in this area. You can see the tower where he was from the road. I can honestly say God reached out to me again. The results were phenomenal. That's another story. This land is truly fascinating. So much happened here that it would be volumes of books. I plan on visiting next year on a journey to Israel. God is good.

i have been there you can't imagine how peaceful you feel . for me it was hard to wake up at 3 o clock only at the first day. after that without alarm clock i was following the program of the monks easily . the only strange is that you eat lunch at the morning around 8 o clock . but i will say it again the feeling that you get in your soul is amazing

I am beyond happy that I was with my father for all of my life and left my two jobs and the United States and all the people the places the things to be with him as he had a penalty grogressive illness and cared for him and fed him and bathed him and dressed him and made his final years safe and comfortable as I possibly could with all my heart!!! He gave me life he gave me love he forged me strong always provided if needed we were never rich but I think back and it was pure love he had a big heart as his brother said it was true and I don't regret one single bit selling my car, leaving things behind, to be with him and I still see him in my dreams & I will go from this earth in complete comfort knowing I have people waiting for me as I do not fear death - be generous with your time for those who cared and loved you here on this earth don't worry bout the rest, u can't control it but this is reality until we pass into the next tangent
  • @will8602
People in the comments acting like they have all the Answers when their lives have reached the point they are getting heated over people living on a cliff and keeping to themselves.
  • Glory to God. What a beautiful documentary. I can’t imagine the Grace our God showers upon these men. Such profound devotion to our creator. That’s why none of them every want to leave. I can’t imagine the countless miracles that have occurred in Mount Athos. Such purity and love for one another- just as God intended it to be. ❤️
  • @deannamadrigal7503
Thank you Bob! for being so persistent and showing us this most sacred place on Earth where prayers are held for all of humanity and our evolution. 🙏🕊🦋
  • LMAO These guys are literally living on top of a cliff not even talking to anyone and people in the comments are still getting angry about it.
  • @eddy67
