One of the best induction speeches I've ever seen.  No wonder so many bands have Eddie induct them.  He really captured why I was listening to REM in the 80s and 90s.

Even listening to Eddie talk is pleasurable

I can listen Eddie's voice all day
  • I've been watching Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions all morning and I'm now convinced they should rename it the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Eddie Vedder.

Wow. I want Eddie to do the eulogy at my funeral. What a speaker. He had me flashing back to so many times in my life where REM was such a large part of the soundtrack.

This is the best RRHOF induction  I've ever heard. Excellent Mr Vedder

R.E.M makes me proud that I'm from Athens, Ga. Them and The B-52's.

Eddie is righteous.  If aliens land on earth, I'd like Ed to be our planet's ambassador.  I'm not even kidding.  The guy is a class act.
  • Wow...this must be my dreamy Rock moment....Eddie Vedder introducing R.E.M to Hall of Fame...I not have words...

I wish I could listen to eddie talk and sing me to sleep every night. I've been in love with Eddie since I was 8 years old. In love like one who loves a father, a role model, a teacher, a philosopher or poet. He taught me about the nature of my soul and he gave me the soundtrack to feel. His voice and spirit is not of this world. For two decades now his voice and his poetry is what imprisons my mind as I write, cry, think and live. We as mere humans are fortunate to have such amazing artists as Eddie Vender and many others to guide us through this tireless journey of life.... They share their souls with us.

This is just a totally honest and sincere induction. Eddie's obviously a respectful fan. Just wonderful:)
  • This band meant so mucn to me...It was very satisfying to see them inducted by someone to whom they obviously meant as much as well...

Eddie Vedder is a class act. Growing up with the release of Pearl Jam's Ten album, seeing the videos on MTV, who knew that he would be so special? Parents making jokes about the new Grunge or not thinking it would ever be important music, just noise. Well, I'd say that Mr. Vedder has proven to all of us that Grunge music and that time period of music was some of the most prominent music to ever be released.
  • thanks Eddie Vedder for being so fair and thanks R.E.M. for being here, on our wonderful Earth planet, you guys help thousands of people going through the huge mess life represents by making music sounds like hope.

Eddie's description of REM while he is introducing/inducting them is "spot on!" Having to stand in front of peers, as well as competitors is difficult on the soul, yet humbling. How does one express exactly what the heart feels and head believes without stumbling over the tongue necessary to do so? Eddie did wonderfully. REM will always be fabulous, and the fans will forever have this epic band stiched into the personal memories of their lives.
