Networking helps at meeting new people and healthy women tend to help their female friends to find men, but I don't believe in opposite gender friends. Those are more like random acquaintances than friends and I'd never ask women out just to do friend things. From my personal experience, male groups with one of the guys kind of girls tend to be fake and sexist.
