How Red vs Blue Inspired a Generation (Video Essay)

Published 2024-03-24
A love letter to Red vs Blue and everyone at Rooster Teeth for inspiring a generation of internet videos... P.S. Creating the machinima for this video was one of the most tedious and difficult things I have ever done to create a video. Mad respect to Burnie, Gus, Geoff, Matt, and all the rest of the guys at RT for their hard work and creativity to put this show together.
RVB and RT will be missed.

Knowing rooster teeth is dead and the possibility of rvb fading into obscurity with no way of ever watching it all in order again (s1-13) breaks my heart. I remember i discovered this series at season 4 i believe. Its was H2 era and its been such an impactful part of my life. I watch through the whole series at least once every year and a half or so. Something i want to show my kids. I hope its within my ability to share it with them.

I remember becoming such a die-hard fan of the series, knowing the exact hour a new episode would release, and scheduling my after-school hours just so i could watch.

How is this not more popular. Hope you grow your channel because you have big talent!

As someone who grew up with machinimas...and kinda still doing them, the internet has shown us that we can just create without needing a studio. Machinimas destruction was a huge blow to internet history. Not a lot of these creations were as lucky as Red Vs Blue, but they all contributed to a whole of making us want to expand our creativity and thats something to be cherised, tho i think thankfully thanks to fan efforts, a good chunk of stuff has been saved. But it can be hard to know, memory is a bitch like that.

This literally is such a perfect tribute to RvB. The way you word things, your style, the editing, music, I mean WOW. For your first YouTube video, I am astonished at how great this encapsulates my love for RVB. Please keep making these, incredible work!

This is insane level of quality! The script writing too! Using lines from the show to respond to your lines was great!

This is absolutely the only appropriate way to put Red Vs Blue in all honesty. Sadly I wasn't even born when RVB was popular and all, but it seriously taught me multiple life lessons and gave me good laughs. Hope this video gains WAY more attention because it definitely made me smile and tear up...

I watched the very first episode the very first time it aired, and i watched every single episode after that, before YT even existed. RvB has been a constant subtle influence on my entire life, and i have loved it as such. Despite the ups and downs that rooster teeth experienced in their declining years...... i have nothing but respect and love for them. Hell, i took my new name from RvB. I owe them so much and this was an amazing and beautiful tribute to the end of an era.

"that has to be the worse throw, of all time" this video was amazing.
  • @Omnicharlizard
I like how this is a hommage to Red Vs Blue, even down the the machinima aspects xD

This is still my favorite series. I cried when I heard it was finally ended though i never watched new of the episodes. All of the characters mean so much to me. Its a huge part of my art, my humor— sometimes its all i wanna rant about. Love it to this day. <3

Well done and great video. They were definitely the original source where other creators and eras of machinima streamed from.
  • My brother introduced me to rvb when I was around 8 and it's been SUCH an impactful part of my life, I remember when it was on Netflix and I'd just watch it over and over when my parents weren't home. I'm so thankful to everyone who made this show I love with all of my heart possible

This is a fantastic tribute to RvB. A series we love. It had its highs and VERY low lows. But it inspired others to make their own Machininas. Classics like Arby n the Chief, Pregame Lobby, This Spartan Life, Hard Justice, etc.

Great video dawg, this deserves so much more attention. Hope this channel blows up cus we will be here for the journey.
  • @BrockA_YT
LMAO the death sound effect you made is so gold. Great content man just binged all 3 of your current videos.
  • I think RvB will go down as one of my favorite pieces of media ever. I bought a Mother of Invention mug during season 10 and it’s still my favorite one, hands-down. I bought shirts, the dvds, and I still listen to the music regularly when I work. What a wonderful, dumb, amazing little series.
  • Dude, this is a seriously good video essay, like this needs a ton more attention then it has. Your writing, editing, pacing, snd creativity blend so well. Love all the callbacks and quotes you threw in as well, and using voice clips from the cast. Keep this up man, your channel is gonna skyrocket
