If you've never flown a 3 channel heli without altitude hold, it's surprisingly difficult. These days every drone has altitude hold, but with these things you have to control the throttle yourself to keep them steady. It takes practice, your first flight at 100% throttle will invariably end up hitting the ceiling in a split second. Small movements are key. Also, when flown indoors, helicopters actually create their own turbulence. It'll toss the tiny heli around mercilessly.
