Published 2024-01-23
Today we discuss the dreaded "arming the disc" or muscling the disc topic. Well, I'm on team arm the disc... as long as you do it efficiently. Hopefully this video will provide good evidence as to why you should. Enjoy!

  • Guys, it takes a long time to change form. Work on this everyday, you won’t become David but you will begin to slowly assimilate it into your game.

I know I'm late to the party, but I just wanted to say... This is hands down, the best video you guys have produced IMHO. The information, the delivery, the humor, the editing, music all top notch! Proud of you boys, been watching your growth since pretty much the beginning.

This is, by far, my favorite episode to date. Every minute was GOLD. They eye blinks for dramatic effect were a nice touch. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
  • @tmuka
"welcome to the most powerful shank right you've ever thrown in your life" I feel seen. Thanks for the great coaching! @8:15

I think you've mostly been teaching this idea subtly for quite a while. You've been all about footwork, x-step, coil, brace, quiet off-shoulder, getting the throwing hand moving past the body fast, etc. But good for you to come right out and say that the arm-pull is also part of the throw. It feels great to hear that - great relief that I can stop trying to rotate the hips with a noodle arm!
  • Thank you!!! It never made sense to me that the arm had to be a noodle and I gave it up a year ago. Worked through your form building series (better form never ends) and have consistently better distance AND accuracy by focusing on arm position and speed at release. Kudos on being fact driven!
  • Finally a DG instructional video I was able to watch from start to finish. Good job Josh.
  • @markatkins4012
I watched this vedeo before my prcatice session. 30 feet farther then yesturday! Same wind and weather. I stayed Focused on throwing like a pro. Thanks Chris!
  • @ethanmaurer3217
This is one most helpful DG videos I've seen. I been trying to slow things down and keep my arm looser and have been finding these same issues. This makes so much sense thank you!
  • @xSeoz
Thank god i found you! I had alot backhand issues. About to find way where is power coming from. You totally saved my life man!!! Love u! ❤
  • @DrD04K
A collapsed pocket by lagging the arm also puts a ton of strain on the shoulder joint. Speaking from experience, leading with the elbow leads to much less shoulder soreness.
  • This timing is hilarious because I just noticed and started working on this with my form. Thx guys!
  • @truthstands4ever
I started playing a year ago. After watching a bunch of videos and working on my form a lot, I lost 50 feet on my backhand!! And lately I've been trying to twist the hips first, but it just doesn't work. This video makes so much sense!! I also appreciate any time you can explain what it feels like to the person throwing the disc. So helpful! Thank you!
  • @emilnilsson7492
This is revolutionary. I cannot describe how many hours ive put trying to understand thow this works, and now, finally, you let me grip it. Cant wait to train this on the field. A lot of thanks Josh.
  • @blainehock754
I feel like the single most important part of this is making sure you get planted before moving the arm. When I was "Arming" the disc I wasn't planting so I would end up shanking everything.
  • @mordek777
🤯I've been around for awhile and yet you still somehow continue to expose my assumptions and shake me to my core. Cheers brother.
  • @Dpap7708
Great video. This idea has been on my mind for a few weeks. It started when I allowed my body to truly get set in the right position, when my arm was back, and my base was solid. That gives my arm the chance to get ahead of my momentum. I think that's why Drew Gibson can walk at snails pace and still bomb. Keep it up dudes! I'm anxiously waiting for the ah ha putt video.
  • @andrewsweeny327
🤯 been watching your channel for years and love that you're still blowing my mind with how to get better
