I have to say, the hunters in this game turn around a lot faster. I tried to get behind them like before in previous games, but it's nearly impossible

The only real piece of advice when going for legendary difficulty; while all these advice are solid, I will emphasize to cover as much as you can for hit-and-run shots. If you're lucky, you'll have alot of cover on some open landscapes. If you're unlucky, you gotta swing that grappleshot like a titanfall spiderman.

Needlers wreck hunters. The arcane sentinel beam does too, but only on the weakspots. Cloak thruster or a marine distraction, as mentioned here, is a good way of getting behind them.

What I find ridiculous is that you need 6 skewer shots or a full HMG and a skewer to kill one red hunter

I love that there's a tutorial from IGN about this. As there's probably a LOT of players joining the Halo franchise via Halo Infinite, Hunters are probably WRECKING them and those of us who've played all the other games would NEVER know they're having a hard time against them. Oh, and the Needler is essentially the best weapon against most bosses or tanky enemies in the game. It's intentionally kept nearby in boss fights, and can dish a LOT of damage really quickly against slow lumbering enemies, aka most bosses. Only downfall is they can run out of ammo fairly quickly if you're missing shots or spraying and praying with them. Solid tut btw.

One thing not mentioned, trying to deal damage to each evenly instead of 1 at a time then try and finish them off at the same time so that the rage from remaining one doesn’t kill you

Needler is super op against hunters. You don't even have to aim and full needler ammo easily does the job on lower difficulties.

Short tip: use a precision weapon (preferably a sniper or skewer) and shoot the neck area when exposed.

I found the needler to be surprisingly effective

This just reminded me how annoying it is that the companion AI isn't programmed to take advantage of the dropwall. They ran right through it into danger like lemmings. Disappointed in 343 for not accounting for that.
  • Remember in halo 1 when it only took 1 bullet from a pistol to the back to kill them

Spamming sticky grenades is a viable approach. I’ve taken down a lot of them throughout the legendary campaign easily utilizing them. And a Needler is an unsung hero. Go and unlock the HVT Needler as soon as you can and it’s easy peezy.
  • Another tip is getting all the marines in the razorback WITH skewers. I did this and destroyed the myriad brothers under 10 seconds there.
  • Also, for frontal engagement they always show 1 knee, the one opposite at the shield, is a grunt size week spot

Watching him drop the needler for a skewer was just painful. The needler damages them regardless of where you shoot them. The skewer needs to hit them in the worms.
  • @Halfiore
In open world if you can bring a razorback full of 5 marines with either arcane sentinel beams or the m41 tracker spnkr. Legit most op thing
  • @Inic
These guys are really kicking my ass atm. They're waaay more difficult than previous games
  • What also helps is if you progress through the entire Infinite story campaign and unlock the bandana skull so that you'll never run completely out of ammo, one of the power weapons of choice for me is the Flexible variant of The new S7 Sniper because it's more suited for close to mid range engagements plus having a 10 round magazine is way better than just the traditional 4 round capacity

As a first time halo player, the way I won in the first hunter fight was: 1. Find coil 2. Use coil 3. Find coil 4. Use coil Repeat
  • @IAMCornholieO
Those are worms by the way not cords. The hunters are actually a colony of worms that eat metal.
