A Florida woman was arrested for giving a set of car keys to her intoxicated friend. Nine minutes later, that friend crashed and killed a man on I-4, deputies say.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said this was the first time in the history of the sheriff's office that they've brought this charge on this set of circumstances.

"[English] directly contributed to the death of our victim by allowing Ms. Bruno to have those keys and to drive away from the Wawa station despite the fact she was intoxicated, she was smashed, she was ripped, she was drunk, she was everything you could think of," the sheriff said. "[Bruno] was not just intoxicated, she was rip-roaring drunk. She was a 0.207 on the breathalyzer that night, hours after the crash."

  • Those WaWa employees deserve a raise. Both women are old enough to know that "friends don't let friends drive drunk". The police cut the drunk a deal and she broke it. I hope they throw the book at both them. Shame on them.

THIS IS THE KIND OF SHERIFF EVERYONE NEEDS..

It's crazy that strangers cared more about the situation than the so called friend.
  • I was pleased when Sheriff Judd said that an impaired person could call them and the sheriff's office would help find a safe way home if there was no other way. That's true dedication to keeping the community safe.

One day I’d like to personally shake this mans hand for all his hard work on so many cases!

This is why we have taxis and uber/lyft. Sending prayers to the mans family and friends. Every county need a Sheriff like Grady Judd !!
  • My heart and prayers go out to the family of the victim. I feel like people don’t even think about that any more. Such a lack of empathy

She should have been arrested for public intoxication and for throwing up all over their bathroom. I feel for the worker that had to deal with that.
  • @elanahammer1076
That’s not a friend. A friend would not lie to the officers and hand over the keys. This is sad and preventable. 🤔❤️🇺🇸

Throw them in jail and throw away the key! Selfish sickening women!
  • This is honestly horrific. I can’t believe she gave her the keys. Incredible
  • @lisakaye2110
That "sober" woman should probably be held even MORE responsible!! What POS human beings these two women are!

🙏for the victim's family. Every county needs a sheriff like Grady Judd. Fights for justice to get the criminals off the street . Hard job in the state of Florida, and he does his job very well . He is honest and fair.. My bucket list contains the opportunity to meet him and thank him in person for his excellent service as a sheriff. Condolences to the family that lost a loved one.

If every department in the USA had a Grady Judd our country would be a better place he’s what a chief of police should be
  • @Merl1n3
I just love this sheriff - he always calls ‘em exactly as he sees ‘em, all his own opinions included.

“Friend” was an accessory to the drunk driver, committed a crime that caused death. State could add more charges, such as aiding and abetting.
  • Sheriff Grady Judd is everything that a police officer should be, he speaks with conviction no political correctness, and that is so refreshing.
  • Omg..how horrifying. I bet it happens more often than we know. Charging others will force them to think twice Years ago someone I know got smashed at their kids ballgame. They could barely stand & were told her to leave. As they wobbled to their truck I quickly jumped into the situation & made them let me drive them home....that would have been a fatal ride home for sure
  • He's passionate and warm when speaking of the victims. This man is dedicated to protect and serve.🎉❤🎉❤
  • Just when I thought that Sheriff Judd was the best law enforcement agent I had ever seen, he goes and out does himself by setting the bar even higher. Well, a guy like this will probably out do himself again and again, I am now sure of that. This is what a hero looks like. This is what a living legend is. This is what the most outstanding example of what law enforcement should be. God bless you, Sir. I salute you.
