I've been keeping this a secret because of how effective it has been for me as a soccer player. Once I learned how to play slower, I was able to make decisions faster. Not only was I able to make decisions faster, but they were way better decisions than if I was to play fast.

Now yes you do have to play fast at times, but when you can learn how to relax a little bit and play slower in a more meaningful way, you will become insanely better at such a short time.

So if you're ever feeling discouraged, and need a way to become better at soccer, then watch this video!

My guitar teacher in Ann Arbor, Michigan used to always say: "The slower you go, the better you get, faster."

“calm” is probably a better word, but essentially start slow. Look at the golden age Barça players like Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, it amazed me how calm they are

I am from Brazil and have been playing soccer all my life. After moving to America 25 years ago, I almost lost my style of playing soccer slowly, so I could think. Here is a lot of running and I wasn't doing well because I wasn't playing in the way I always play in Brazil. Our style of play is misunderstood here. Anyway that is a very important point. Best

This is so true, last week I was feeling kind of sick so I played slower, it was one of my best games, good passes and even won some 1v1s
  • Learning to scan effectively when you don't have the ball is a game-changer, transforming your entire approach to the sport. The moment you develop this crucial skill, you'll notice a profound shift in your on-field performance. You'll find yourself becoming more composed and calmer when you have the ball, as the act of scanning constantly feeds your mind with information about your surroundings and potential options. This constant awareness eliminates the anxiety of the unknown, preventing you from panicking in pressure situations. You'll anticipate the next move, knowing where your teammates are positioned and identifying potential passing lanes or areas to exploit. This newfound confidence will allow you to make quicker and more decisive decisions, leading to more effective playmaking and a greater sense of control over the game. The ability to scan constantly while off the ball doesn't just benefit your individual play; it elevates the entire team's performance. You'll be able to communicate crucial information to your teammates, highlighting open spaces, anticipating opponent movements, and contributing to a more fluid and cohesive flow of the game. In essence, learning to scan when you don't have the ball elevates your game to a new level, making you a more confident, agile, and effective player.

This is completely true . When we have our game at the end of the week i get so nervous the day before to the point that i can’t wait to get on the pitch and do my thing. AND ITS THE WORST THING I CAN DO . The less i think about my game , the calmer i am , the better i play . slow is fast . playing calmly its like a superpower you have , its like time slows down for your but not for the rest, you just see clearly everything you need to do at any given time . its amazing advice.
  • I used to play soccer as a young kid but only play on ps5 now. This video's philosophy can be applied to all of life or whatever field you're operating in, thanks for the good advice!
  • @dkh1980
Your right its not abt slowing down your play its about slowing down the pressure, anxiety beats goingg inside you. Playing in flow state=playing at your best
  • @villafun1767
So true, I recently recovered from an ankle injury and I am not running as much or playing as fast as before. However, I find myself playing better overall than even before my injury.

Best advice I've seen on the internet for football I've seen. Period. Smart guy great video. Highlight of my day and reassurance of how I guide my son on the field. Thank you.
  • And that's how I realised why I did very bad recently, I was trying to play too fast
  • @Dynam1cFC
