Thirty-one years have not faded the memories of Bobbie Royalty's son, Eric Berge, who was killed in a drunk driving crash in Seattle in 1993.

"Eric is never far away from me," Royalty, 92, said while showing off a picture of her son that hung on the wall of her Issaquah apartment.“Nothing fazed him -he tried absolutely everything, and he was funny. Wherever you saw Eric, you saw two or three other buddies."

The crash that claimed Berge's life happened at the intersection of East Madison Street and Broadway in the Capitol Hill neighborhood moments after he'd finished his shift at the nearby Hotel Sorrento.

So sad. I pray for the survivors of these atrocities, and grieve with you. We know that there will be ultimate justice, but I hope there is justice in this life too.

At what point do we as a Society address the complete and utter failure of our Criminal Justice system to protect the public?? Unbelievable??
