Lyrics:
Dead Love couldn't go no further
Proud of and disgusted by her
Push shove, a little bruised and battered
Oh Lord I ain't coming home with you

My life's a bit more colder
Dead wife is what I told her
Brass knife sinks into my shoulder
Oh babe don't know what I'm gonna do

I see my red head, messed bed, tear shed, queen bee
My squeeze
The stage it smells, tells, hell's bells, miss-spells
Knocks me on my knees
It didn't hurt, flirt, blood squirt, stuffed shirt
Hang me on a tree
After I count down, three rounds, in hell I'll be in good company

Dead Love couldn't go no further
Proud of and disgusted by her
Push shove, a little bruised and battered
Oh Lord I ain't coming home with you

My life's a bit more colder
Dead wife is what I told her
Brass knife sinks into my shoulder
Oh babe don't know what I'm gonna do

I see my red head, messed bed, tear shed, queen bee
My squeeze
The stage it smells, tells, hell's bells, misspells
Knocks me on my knees
It didn't hurt, flirt, blood squirt, stuffed shirt
Hang me on a tree
After I count down, three rounds, in hell I'll be in good company

In hell I'll be in Good Company

I played this song for a few friends. None of them liked it. Clearly, I need new friends
  • My wife and are celebrating our 25th anniversary and she got tickets for the Dead South concert In Missoula Montana on August 5! What a great wife.
  • I'm 67 years old and it's been a very long time (decades, to be more precise) since I last heard a song that moves me so much and speaks so clearly to my old soul. God bless these gentlemen with their unique, artistic, melodic cello, the sweet, intricate banjo tune, their excellent vocals and the superb video. So very, very good, real music. No effects, just pure talent. Thank you so much!
  • The one guy has the vocal range i can only describe as broken glass and honey, and I'm 100% here for it
  • This is the last song my husband learned to play before he passed. It filled many hours of his last days. He enjoyed the song immensely. Thank you

This sound is so wonderful. The person who is reading this comment, I wish you great success, health, love and happiness!
  • Shout out to whomever did the whistling at the beginning. I had a lil dog abandoned that trapped itself under my house for a week and food was her only motivator; until this song came on! She was enticed by the whistle so I just kept playing the beginning over and over and that won her over. She is inside & getting healthy now!

Finally a video with dance moves I can almost follow!

Anyone still listen to this song? I just discovered it from my brother before he passed away a few years ago and like to listen to it still. R.I.P Bro.
  • That Cello player has a hell of a voice, and in particular it really plays well to this style of music. That lad's going places.

6 years later this is still one of the most simple and enjoyable songs i've ever heard, wish there were more songs like this
  • @haileyvick9436
This absolute mad lad is really out here playing a cello like a guitar.

The Dead South, dance moves help motivate me to learn to walk again. Thanks.
  • Случайно посмотрел этот ролик. Теперь не могу оторваться от группы. Молодцы ребята. Респект из Москвы😊
  • @chokdeemaak
A old drunken German in Thailand introduced me to this band ...fooking legend
  • I can't believe no one has commented on the Cinematography. The song is really good and catchy but that simplicity of these shots and how beautiful they are stacked is just unbelievable ! Well done all around, guys !

I've made this song my anthem since 2018. I've sung it at karaoke, I sing it at home, in the Theater and my car. This song encapsulates my complete existence as a bitter widower. Cancer sucks. But... The truths uncovered after loss are a sentence to a life of devastation. Brass knife.. for certain. Proud of and disgusted by her. I ain't going home with you...

For Seven years people sometimes ask "Who's here?" But I'm asking Who Never left?
